------------------------------------
Lucan is the son of a landed knight in a kingdom that is surrounded by diverse threats. As he comes of age, he must make peace with both the tasteful and distasteful of his responsibilities.
But most important of all, he must find a way to either tame or accept his own ambitions.
In a realm where an underground labyrinth births monsters that hunger to climb into the world of man, itβs difficult to be a noble and dangerous to be a warrior.Β Lucan must navigate a maze of mortal peril and political intrigue if he is to survive and, perhaps someday, thrive.

- capital0vRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0The progression system seems interesting, and the sparring scenes seen so far are well written. What really excites me is the realism of the kingdom building. The author seems knowledgeable enough of medieval infrastructure that i expect the protaganist to come up with some very clever solutions to his lands problems without resorting to easily written magical shortcuts. Can't wait to read more!
- AlixRocheRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0Are you looking for a well thought out world and storyline? A slow-burn story with gradually unfolding progression and (eventual) kingdom building?
Then this is the right story for you!
Story -- It seems like it has a well thought out plot, but it is still early on to say if the pay-off will land. The kingdom building doesn't kick in right away as the author decides to first establish the world and the system and flesh out the MC. Because of where the story starts, the transition into the kingdom building does take time.
Style -- it is slow, but in a good way because it keeps a more or less consistent pace.Β The prose isn't overly descriptive, imo, but it is just enough to not slow down the pace even more.
Character -- The MC isn't a blank slate for a self-insert, that's for sure. There was a comment about the story being a 'coming of age' progression fantasy because the MC isn't an adult, but I wasn't getting that vibe personally. Actually, I think that the MC acts like a mini-adult, which I think for the purpose of this story works well.
Grammar -- I am notoriously a bad person to ask for grammar advice, but I didn't see any glaring issues either way. - ZirkRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0There's something really enchanting about the way the author writes and the action scenes are another thing in themselves π€€
I love how he doesn't strech chapters and makes time skips of a few weeks, days or hours where necessary
There's no get-rich-quick as the MC's OP shenanigans here, the MC has to plan his actions with a lot of forethought
Choices mad be the MC have real consequences which seems realistic and probable in real life
The LitRPG components fits in the story very well it's not a cheat and requires real effort and even payments to level yourselves up i.e the power comes at a cost and the system doesn't show any leyway of quick leveling and overpowering people
And the best treat for people who love politics in kingdom building stories where the world isn't run by the power of friendship is that the world and the system does seem to be unfair in a sense, that the privileged have ways to stay privileged and the poor have hindrances to make them stay poor (in my view at least) - apflbaumRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0This is a great mix of a kindom builder (it's early in the story so it's more worldbuilding and planning but everyone who read it a couple of chapters will feel the focus point) and a litepg/progression fantasy with a young knight.
I'm a sucker for kingdom builder but sometimes they feel too stiff or historical that it can be a bit suffocating or boring to read. While Litrbg novel has often poor worldbuilding, logical errors and way too much in the fantasy departement.
This novel however feel as it has the potential - and it has so far - to eradicate those minus points I personally have in those sub genre.
I'm excited to see Lucans personal grow and his fief!
Also there a skill/status screen thing but is rarely shown and as there are monster and magic in this world, it seems very soft and natural to me and is implemented very good. :) - britaelRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0The story follows the main character as he comes of age, as he slowly goes into adulthood, and the responsibilities of his position in this often violent world.
It's refreshing to see the impact of feudal titles with privileges and responsibilities portraited somewhat acuratedly. As a landed knight, the future of the main character's father is entirely dependent on the king's whim, and politics can be more dangerous than monsters.
I'm eager to see more. I suggest that anyone who finds this review give this story a try. You'll not be disappointed. - AdinolfiRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0It is as the synopsis says, a Kingdom Building - LitRPG without way too much number crunching or millions of skills. And until now it is promising and I look forward for what it's shaping to be a great story.
The grammar is good, same as the style, and the story flows, even if the chapters are a bit too short, but the author says that they'll lenghten.
I'm very exctited for more chapters and if you want a story with a relative straitforward Litrpg without too many numbers and complicate calculations, this story is for you. - CyberSorceressRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0A refreshing entry into this niche genre. I pray this isn't dropped like many others have been, as I look forward to Book 2 and the continuation of the story. It is following the only son and heir of a Landed Knight on the borders of a Kingdom, with an interesting story that has kept me engaged.
additions:
I enjoy that this series does not have territory status sheets, and i enjoy how the litrpg aspects work, and it only being on the individuals level. - Insane_MedicoRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0Loving the story so far. The story might be slow but it definitely doesnt feel too stretched. The MC is also growing slowly to become a competent leader in all aspects. The territory also grows slowly along with the characters.
Love how there is no litrpg in the territory building aspects. The fief needs a constant supply from outside and it takes time for the changes in the fief to come into effect. - MontenegroRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0I find this story to be quite realistic so far. The story itself is intriguing and I am looking forward to reading more chapters. I find the fief management and development is interesting aswell, and I hope it won't be spoiled by unexplained gains. I would highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys kingdom building stories set in a medieval fantasy setting with hints of magic lore.
- MosviciousRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0I admit that I wasn't sure what to make of the story or even really what was happening with the progression system and the tree magic but by the time the royal family was introduced and the court politics and kingdom building got underway I was hooked!
I'm going to be honest, I think this story could easily lose the progression system and nothing would be lost from the story. It is kind of like isekai animes where you wonder why they are even isekai as it doesn't really add anything to the story. But it isn't a detriment to the story.
Easily my favorite parts of the story are Lucan planning out his little kingdom and the trials and tribulations that come from that. I like that his problems are thought out and not just overnight successes. I'm also hoping we get to see more of him interacting with his love interest in book 2.
TLDR: kingdom building stories are rare and good ones are even rarer but I think this has potential to be great.
