Description

Dungeons. They are mysterious things. Nobody knows how they come to be, but everyone knows they come hand in hand with danger and reward. Adventurers all across the land flock to them, seeking wealth and fame. Some will lose their lives. Some will give up. And a few who conquer them will be remembered as heroes...

That is just one side of the story.

Join Adam, a Dungeon who has lost his most important memories, as he learns what it means to be a dungeon again. Who was he? What happened to him? What is his purpose? These are the questions he must answer as figures from his past resurface, and new enemies plot against him.

For the ones who only want to know the rating and a quick opinion: It's good, go and read it. 5/5.
Now to the boring part of the review: Grammar and Style. Honestly, as long as one understands everything, I couldn't care less if there are one or two mistakes. Well, I didn't see any, and it is well-written. 5/5.
So, this is what I would call a wide world, and the dungeon core story is probably a small part of it. However, world-building is happening slowly, and you would probably need to read all the other fiction to better understand the world. Yet, it is pretty well developed.
The character, in this case, a dungeon core, is ambivalent (an anti-hero) and something I can't stand. However, I can see that he is reasoning with himself and trying to at least appear humane.
I don't like many character personalities like the anti-hero troupe, but I can see if it is developed well, and the dungeon core is. Honestly, other characters are much better developed, but I only feel that way because I dislike ambivalent anti-hero characters. 5/5, I see if something is good even though I don't like it ;)
Now the story. There is a lot and, at the same time, barely any, if that makes sense. Because the MC has memory loss and we follow him, we will also learn about the world as he does. So sometimes, like in the prologue, there is a ton, and other times, it comes in waves while we, like Adam, go through learning. 5/5.
Honestly, I can't really read it because there is an actual anti-hero, but for everyone who likes this troupe, go and read this great novel :)
    5/5 all around.

I came here from the COG community (choice of games) from his interactive fiction game. Loving both the game and the novel, can't wait for more. I love the fact that the protagonist is a dungeon, it is pretty rare to be a dungeon itself!
Can't wait to see where Adam goes in his adventure

As an admitted novice to the Dungeon Core space, The Dungeon's Avatar is a phenomenal read for anybody; whether you're new to the genre or a seasoned dungeoneer!
Style - The story is written in a very interesting way.  Shifting from mulitple first-person POVs, you'll get exposure to a variety of different characters.  Adam, our dungeon core hero, is written in a way that feels both familiar and alien.  It's a great example of using intentional sentence structure to make it clear that we're not exactly dealign with a person, and I commend the author on their style.
Story - This is a fun ride!  You'll get whisked away into a combination of political intrigue, mysterious past, and good ol' fashion dungeon building!  There's a LOT packed into the story, and I'm excited to see it continue.
Grammar - A couple of typos occasionally, but overall the prose is great.  There's nothing in the writing that will pull you out of your immersion from a grammar perspective.
Character - The main character is written extremely well, and as mentioned above I love the style of the writing, and how it's distinct from the traditional human POV.  I will say that the author is not shy about introducing new characters, and I really want to learn more about them!  As the story continues I'm sure that itch will be scratched, but for now I can't give higher than 4.5 until some of the others get fleshed out a bit more.  Still, really good stuff!
In summary, this is a dungeon core story you'll want to dig into and digest.  There's a lot to enjoy, and it promises even more exciting stuff to come!

Maybe I'm too hasty to review a story after just 5 chapters have been released, but I'm a sucker for Dungeon Cores and this one does its job quite well. From what I can tell so far, it's pretty analytic and realistic in regards to what actions and responses are to be expected from people. I like it much more than the standard "let's murder everything for exp" as in so many others. First chap was a little rough, rest reads a lot better. I am sticking around and will be happy to read more once released.
