The Dungeon Lord

Description
A mage must choose between breasts and fireballs. For most the choice is simple. For some it is more complex. Some however refuse to choose at all. This is the story of one such intrepid soul. Based off of maou no hajimekata (https://diwasteman.wordpress.com/maou-no-hajimekata/). I read the manga, then tried the translated bits of the light novel, but was disappointed by the very simplistic style of writing, so I wanted to write something similar (Markedly similar), bit I'm planning on diverging the story more down the path of dungeon building and harem forming than world conquering.

- NexMortiferRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good to see this author back with dungeon related stories, this time dungeon building in a cultivation world instead of a cultivator reincarnated as a dungeon.
This story so far has nearly everything I look for in the genre.
Little to no glaring grammar or spelling mistakes, a main character that doesn't make me want to stab them, and side characters that aren't just cardboard cutouts.
So far the internal consistency of the world is holding together, which is always a plus.
As far as what I want and don't have?
More. I want more chapters. - VoidkinsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The chapters are abit too short, adding more abit more detail and things that happen between the start and end of a chapter would make it better. So far the story needs to make the "dungeon system" more juicy and show more of what it has, not just what the mc has taken from it. The mc adding his thoughts mid someone else's delve or showing the external parties reactions during could be really good... It really missing the stuff within chapters to add chacter and depth to the story. And if you have stats of items/ people/ abilities have a way to make them interesting and consistent. But more importantly it has to feel entertaining. Within the same chapter's events it needs more Depth & Breadth
- callmesteveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm familiar with this author from Dungeon Core, Realm Heart, which is a somewhat more traditional dungeon core story with the premise of a dungeon reincarnated as another dungeon, with the purpose of figuring out life.
Unlike DCRH, this story focuses on a cultivator who runs a dungeon, rather than a cultivating dungeon. (There might be something of a theme here.) It also is much more smooth to read with fewer spelling/grammar issues. I used to enjoy DCRH, and still kinda like it, but I find this story a lot more fun.
There's not a "core" per se, since the owner of the dungeon is a young human, recently made sect master by an Uno Reverse Card murder attempt, who's now trying to revive a very down-on-its-luck sect using a (disguised) dungeon as a mystical realm.
There's a bit of 4th-wall nudging, as the MC has implemented a gambling mechanic for those who delve in hopes of getting more visitors, and mentions that he feels dirty for having used the tactic. This is excused by the fact that he's a reincarnated game designer, which is also helping his level design.
For a dungeon core story, there's a lot more physical mobility and political intrigue better suited for a regular "Young Master" cultivator theme. It's not nearly so much of a focus on dungeon building or even acquiring creatures or upgrades, since he's just buying them with points or using the sect's vault for templates, making it nearly entirely focused on the politics. The combination is rather refreshing.
This leads to a lot of complex characters out of a simple start, since the MC has no idea who he can trust not to murder him in hopes of gaining favor with another sect, much less trust with the truth of this new "mystical realm." - RznRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The first half of this has all the basics of your typical archmage/magical power fantasy and then our MC decides to summon a succubus in order to learn about making a dungeon - properly. There some good back and forth dialogue, our MC has half a brain in his actions and well... this inadvertently comes up almost as a short story (in the completed sense) with a clever 'ending'. Worth a laugh or two.
