I didn't know what to expect from The Dream Quest of Henry Sinclair, but it revealed to be a fantastic story, a journey through dreams and the threads of magic itself.
It's beautifully crafted with passion, which you can feel in every chapter, every character, and every story.
Style: The writing is both evocative and efficient. You'll have no trouble picturing the colourful spells and places, as you'll feel the characters' emotions towards each other in every interaction.
On a personal note, some chapters' lengths were a bit too much for me. I prefer shorter chapters, around 3000 words max. I feel like some suffered in terms of rhythm because of it. But it's so easy to follow along that it wasn't that bothering.
Story: The story is very original, brimming with clever, well-executed ideas. Expect a kind of D&D meets Inception feel, though it would be reductive.
The journey through the layers of dreams is convincing and wonderful, and I found myself positively surprised by some ideas.
Also, it was refreshing to read a fantasy story that isn't based in a medieval setting.
Grammar: Nothing to note here. It's been well-written, edited and proofread.
Characters: Henry and Ruby are deeply touching, especially in their brother-sister relationship. Henry Sinclair (by the way, I love that name) is intelligent and skilled, yet with room for growth. You journey with him, learning and discovering as he does. While less prominent, the side characters serve their purpose in the narrative.
On the other hand, the threats are indeed threatening and more complex than I initially anticipated.
The author hints at the possibility of more stories in this universe, and there's a lot of potential there. I could definitely envision myself reading these books. (Once I've finished with the ones available, that is)
I'm surprised that this story has yet to receive more interactions. I can only hope that more people will stumble upon it and appreciate its unique charm.

A young wizard must venture into a magical world to complete a coming-of-age quest that is tradition to the clan he belongs to, where an unexpected turn of events spiral the mission into an adventure to the otherworldly and beyond. A story with lots to like, as it's definitely (as well as in a positive manner) not like anything I've ever seen; in the words of Peter Parker, "This is something else!" Though personally I would've liked a little more context to the story's background such as details on how Henry's clan operates or exactly why such "dream quests" as coming-of-age missions came to be in the first place.
Bringing me to the characters - as gripping as the story is, as are the characters we follow and/or meet along the way. The sidekicks Henry gets to know during his journey have decent chemistry with him, and the villains make for pretty intimidating threats. As for Henry himself, I was always rooting for him throughout his whole ordeal, and his badass moments were well done with equally well-written action. However for a supposed coming-of-age adventure I would like to have seen a bit more development from him in that regard, but maybe that's just me.
For the other things - I barely found any issues with the grammar, if at all, so full marks there. And as I've said before, this is a very unique story, which we owe to the style it's written in. A surreal, dreamlike (considering the story, that's probably fitting ^_^;) prose that captures just the right tone for the story, something that gave me similar vibes to reading the Ritual Of CHUD segments from Stephen King's IT.
Overall, a short and sweet read worth getting into, especially for fans of surreal fantasy.
