Yuelan, the daughter of the prime minister of Kilin, goes to the imperial library just as she often does. This time, things are different. She finds herself in a different world in the kingdom of Longuo, learns the secret of the library and its librarian, and gets forced into politics because of a decree from Longuo's emperor. Now she must rely on the skills she learned at her father's side and the librarian who is more than what he seems as she fights to survive the battle between the princes over the title of crown prince and the right to inherit the throne of the emperor. In the process she will learn about the unique history of her mother's maternal line and how to control the magic she is inherently able to use.

- ramoutonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As of the time I am writing this review, this story is highly underrated in my opinion.
This story has excellent grammar, excellent characterization, a good consistent flow, intelligent world building and good reasons for every characters behavior.
The story is a slow paced one, but with several underlying themes and plot threads. There is an element of travel to another world, however, the source world is not Earth despite some technological similarities, and the reasons for being able to travel to the other world are well thought out and well explained.
This story has some action, but it is not a focus of the story, which is more focused on the world building, the politics of the characters, and a slight hint of a budding romantic relationship, certainly a long courtship at least. The magic system is well thought out and fairly unique across the other novels I have read. It's use in the story so far is a bit understated and I look forward to seeing more of it.
As was stated in the other review, (there was only one other when I wrote this), the author has done a very good job keeping the ideologies of the characters of the various countries consistent and understandable, and even relatable.
I highly recommend supporting this author via Patreon if you can.
Frankly I wish my own story was as well written. - rob stencelRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This was a story I only started reading out of curiosity. I didn't expect it to capture my interest, and isn't the type of story I normally read. I am glad I gave it a chance, as the characters are interesting as is the story. I really like the way it challenges the ideologies of the support characters while still feeling authentic to the era. There are some very stereotypical characters and is clunky at times, but overall find it a very good story.
- RoseButterRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The Dragon Priestess adheres closely to eastern fantasy webnovel romance tropes. The male lead is introduced right from the start; he's dashing, doting, handsome, wealthy, heroic, and spoils Yuelan overly much. The female lead is beautiful, gentle, kind, and serene. And not much else. The characters are cookie cutter cardboard. There are no twists, no turns; the plot just hops up on its rails and carries forth.
Worst of all, everything that is or was interesting about the characters or the setting is overridden by the demands of the plot. No character building or in-universe explanations given, disbelief is snapped back and forth as the plot demands. Yuelan has demands, opinions, and beliefs, but snap, in the next moment they are gone. The setting shatters itself on repeat to provide the feel-good moments of the oversaturated character tropes.
So if you are looking for cute fluff, face-slapping, and doting ML-FL tropes, this story has got them. Depth and consistency? Look somewhere else.
