The Desecrator's Tomb - A Numbers Lit-aRPG

Self-Published

Community Rating

Description

A man appears in a dungeon full of undead. He tries to leave.

This is my attempt at writing a litrpg where the system is more formalized. This means that there will be a fair amount of min-maxing and we will hopefully be able to calculate the dps of every ability by the time I am done. Expect math.

The main character will become aDrain Tank.

This story uses an aRPG item and stat system.

Oh and one last thing.

Beware the penguins.

update 1/8/22: I am trying to simulate things as faithfully as is reasonable. As of chapter 17 there are animated gifs depicting Chilly's life throughout encounters.

update 1/11/22:Kreksytedrew me a cover! All hail our artist overlords!

update 5/25/22: Going on hiatus for a bit. The second arc is complete. Will come back for the 3rd and final arc soon.

update 7/15/22: ayy...I've returned. Starting the third and final arc.

This is a fabulous story and my first experience with a litrpg and this is amazing it unfortunately took me around 20 chapter to figure the penguin out and everything stepped up in the amazingness factor. The author does very well with grammar and quickly correcting any edits suggested. All in all I would highly suggest everyone giving it a shot I know I added it to my favorite list to reread again even when it's finished because it's been an amazing ride so far.

I am really enjoying this book. The mc is that great combination of lucky and willing to put in the work, the world building is so far interesting and well written and the level/skill progression is sufficiently unique to be interesting without being confusing. The author also works hard to incorporate reader comments which is a lot of fun.

First off, this is good and I know you might not agree with me everyone has different opinions. But I find this quite enjoyable and funny the mix of action, adventure comedy is perfect and it's unique the rpg setting and the system are unique. Everything matters and the author puts time and effort into it. The changes the mc has personality and is not flat the system is unique in it's own way and everything adds up I love it all honestly

Pretty enjoyable, system is very similar to Path of Exile. I knew immediately in chapter 2 when I saw More Vs Increased, and of course the ash debuff. No issues with grammar and syntax and the silliness is pretty inline. Looking forward to how this one progresses and what other elements from Poe it will incorporate l.

What will you do if you ever end up in a hostile dungeon armed with nothing but a magic System? And what would you think of the gaggles of etherial Penguins apearing and disappearing at will, ranging from halfway reasonable to absolute Lunatics? And what is the whole thing with Tables about?
This is the first (actual) Reader Interactive Novel I have read on Royalroad, and its way of interaction differentiates it from every other Novel of its kind I read anywhere else. If you are looking for halfway reasonable story sprinkled with the madness that comes with giving power to random people on the Internet, look no further than this.
Come and Join the fold, there is always space for one more Penguin.

Anything can be overcome, except for tables, especially skill tables.
They force you to look at their details and use your computation power.
That said, this reader interactive story is indeed made of reader interactive material. Skills, dialogues, memes aboard!
I like the HP real time animations :)
I've had the most fun since a long, long time.
    Thanks for the story!

It is a very good story grammar so far is great. No Great leaps of logic and the main character is not unlikeble or whiney which is a plus. I love that we are penguins you should give it a try. Any ways I think you should comment on the chapters it's great.

I'm editing my review because chapter 25 is a pretty big turning point:
First of all, you are a penguin. Possibly a royal penguin. And you can speak to the main character through the comments. As a result, the comments are immensely amusing, and the character is sometimes confused, but also helped and supported as he navigates a hostile dungeon that he never really asked for.
What follows is a list of random things I like in the story.
The author seems to genuinely care about us as readers. At some point the progression of fights is helped with animated gifs for the health bar. The character is quite thoughtful, solving fights and problems creatively (how to get water? how to deal with reanimating dead? how to use the environment to deal with monster fights? etc.). The system for fighting seems genuinely reasonably balanced, and it's not actually obvious whether the character will succeed any given challenge. The grammar is really good and consistent.
A few small cons: sometimes the descriptions are a tad repetitive. The penguin antics can get in the way of story progression, if that's what you're here for.

The story is light playful and fun. If you are looking for a story that is light hearted but fully of mental planing like delve you fround home.  So far little has occupied in terms of character development but that is little consequence when all you are looking forward to each chapter is how the MC deal with the next situation wether it's talking astral projections of eldritch horrors in the shap of clubs penguin, planning out future op litrpg builds or attacking the next undead sometime all in the same chapter. Thank you for the chapter

Its different. Without Quesiton. Author is using chapter comments delayed to allow readers to interact with the story.
Yes there are trolls. But author seems to be somewhat curbing their attacks. Mostly. That is up to readers opinion.
Its amusing, its worth the read.
System stuff is Hard Magic, Not Soft. There are Rules (mostly). The author and reader figure it out together.
Character is formed, but not really. MC is someone we all know and have as a friend / coworker, but you don't actually know anything about them. And in this setting, it still works.
Dungeon Crawl. System. Moderately rational MC. Penguins. Enough said. Sorry, "Royal Penguins".
