Description
An old-school epic fantasy trilogy with a slow burn and deep characters.
Some things were never meant to be found.
Three unlikely allies have been tasked with somehow preventing a war, and it turns out that is the least of their problems. This trio's quest will lead them in search of the forbidden secrets of the dragons, powerful beings that vanished from the world a thousand years ago, and an ancient relic that was intentionally lost to time. As they delve deeper into the mystery they will face assassins, jealous gods, cunning demons, and their own pasts, only to discover that what they are seeking threatens much more than just the peace between two nations.
Can a conman turned investigator, a reformed assassin and an escaped slave save the world from a threat millennia in the making?

- chris#1SupermanClarkkentfanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The diamond’s blood is an epic fantasy story that explores the political dynamics of two nations. The story is set during a time of Cold War as the two nations are quietly preparing for battle. It has a grand scope that lets us follow numerous characters as they try to make their way in absurdly difficult times. The world of the story is suitably grim which pushes the characters to overcome greater and greater challenges to accomplish their goals. I mean slavery is normalized and healing magic is horrific. Furthermore, because of this grimness it allows the moments of genuine human kindness to shine all the brighter.
The primary two characters that we follow through the first batch of chapters are Jade and Av’ry. Jade is a young woman enslaved to work in an aristocratic household somewhere in the country side. Av’ry is a much older man, scarred by past trauma, trying to carry out his late friend’s last wish. They’re both good characters, but I found myself liking Jade more. Her friendship with another character named J’arrin, her masters treating her like dirt and her resilience to win her freedom easily attached me to her character.
Conclusively, I believe the story’s greatest strength is the characters. The writer has a gift for making you feel for their struggles in a cruel world. When they show kindness or mercy you want them to win. And for that I can’t recommend the book enough. - Battle_Sloth1Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5When the wicked and murderous Queen Istaria of Esrasea begins a war of conquest against the peaceful nation of Maskaal, the only people who may be able to save this country are a witty assassin, a grifter-turned-detective and a mysterious escapes slave girl.
The world building is solid. We already are presented with mysteries as to Jade’s past before being enslaved, as well as the mystery of the dragons’ disappearance, as well as just who Istaria’a dark patron is.
Grammatically, I can find no problem.
Where this story shines is the characterisation. The characters have believable chemistry with one another: Mikivia is delightfully violent. Jade struggles with the mystery of her past, as well as the skill set that she seems saddled with. Ki’vin is believable as an advisor trying to hold his nation together. My personal favourite is Av’ry, a fantasy interpretation of a film-noir gumshoe, with the charisma of a Spike Spiegel-esque rogue.
All in all, this is definitely a book worth reading! - EvercrestRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The Dawn's Blood is a multi-pov high fantasy that isn't 'high' and mighty on itself. It's a well presented story that delivers on a continuous series of intriguing elements and just enough secrecy where you keep clicking next to see where the story will go.
When it comes to the overarching worldbuilding - it is good, but also in a sense simplistic. There are *some* terms thrown around that are the typical fantastical tropes that when you see, you inherently get the vibe what they are. Then you have names which are more in the area of 'WELL-FANTASY!' But overall they're simplistic enough where you don't feel like the name is Ogarkklun'chartukk the Orc of Annihilation or anything like that.
Grammatically nothing overwhelming to complain about, you could comb through it, or if you're very aware of grammar issues maybe you'd notice something, but just casual read vibes, no problemo.
Now the bread and butter of a story like this is the characters. In the 11 chapters out currently we've been introduced to a solid handful of them, some better than others, as one would expect. My favorite thus far is definitely Jade, feels the most fleshed out even despite the fact that she has seemingly no memories of who or what she is. But her character feels the most raw of the bunch, and the constant tidbits that push and pull at your intrigue-receptors about her blurred memories, make her the most noticeable part of the ensemble to the point where you're just waiting to see what she'll do next.
The others have had their spotlight and you get the basics of their creation - and their personalities, but they haven't had as much of a chance to shine just yet, but all in all for 11 chapters, there's nothing inherently wrong with that. And this is personal opinion at the end of the day, someone else may prefer one of the others more than Jade, and vice versa.
In the end, the series was an enjoyable little binge, with an incredibly well done execution of building up the reader's desire for m - Valik ValaquinnRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Tightly written with solid pacing, this story hooks you from the start and refuses to let go. It's the kind of compelling read best devoured in one weekend sitting. Highly recommended for those who enjoy immersive, gripping narratives that demand your full attention from the first page to the last.

Style score:
Story's style of maintaining multiple perspectives is commendable and deserves great applause. The style knits the transitions well to make sure we as readers could keep up in our imaginations.
Story score:
The story is very original and unique for it approaches to showcase the true nature of the world through every action whether on-screen or off-screen. Even the world building ties itself together to help along.
Character score:
Jade as one of our main leads is a fascinating character that brings new air to whomsoever reads of her story.
J'arrin is a tremendously thought out character with every sentence he is involved in is used greatly.
C'arren is one of early antagonists and his portrayal has been phenomenal.
Grammar score:
Grammatically this story did introduce to me to new words. Which was a good thing. That is something you expect to come across when you read a story. While there were several moments where the names of the characters could have been made easier to integrate to be remembered by the reader, it still is not below average the way its done. The story stands solid on grammatical grounds.
Overall:
This story is a fun and interesting read to have and reading it will only enrich your life and time.
