Description
Chetal is a thief in the streets of Hampi. The nights her catch is big enough are the nights her handler allows her to eat. The nights without a catch consist of whips and beatings. Unbeknownst to her, this night, something is afoot in the Emperor's palace, far away from the grimy streets she lives in. The Emperor has been murdered, as has been his entire family, including his only heir- a daughter. Chetal returns to her handler empty-handed, and finds a stranger waiting for her. A stranger with a wild plan- to make her the Empress of the Vijaynagara Empire. All she has to do is pretend to be the Emperor's dead daughter.

- ZagarothRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The beginning is a little rough, and the exact rarity and knowledge most people have about Shapers could use clarification, especially for guards, but it has an interesting start of a plot and premise for the power set.
It is clear that character knowledge is incomplete/wrong about the Shapers, but it is not yet clear how wrong. I think this is good, it is part of the mystery. - Daniel ZRoyal Road★★★ 3.0A fast paced, grammatically well written story so far with hints at intrigue and an incredibly adaptable (arguably, too easily adaptable) heroine. It already fails though at a basic test - not the only fiction at RR failing this to be fair -: if royalty is so vulnerable to the use of magic as it looks like - with basically every wizard ('shaper') able to come and go and subdue royalty, at least as far as we can see so far -, why haven't wizards made the Empire their own a long time ago, and why don't people around royalty realise this?
