The biggest strengths of this story are its absolutely impeccable grammar and well-versed narration. It's only the beginning, but you can basically taste the experience behind the prose.
It might just be that this is also a weakness in the story- through the powerful pull of the narration and plot, you don’t get to know the world and characters quick enough, somehow, and it might just slightly lack some elusive spark. It starts to pick up after the first flashback, and I'm especially curious about the one male side char.
I gotta keep on reading. All in all, very interesting beginning! 10/10 for the "apes".
