- BladedPenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This has been a very enjoyable fantasy story. As of this review, we're up to chapter 10. The story feels straight out of Secrets of Nimh, where the anthropomorphic animals claw and strive to survive a seemingly harsh world. Hierarchy has formed in the animal kingdom, with mice near the bottom, just above insects.
Which then enters our young protagonist, Mousey (Mousefried), who is punished for rescuing a foreigner. Reaching a 'be drafted or die' situation, Mousey ends up discovering that while his physical prowess is near the bottom, his affinity for magic is the inverse. And thus starts our young mouse wizard's journey.
The characters are all well written, colorfully described, with human/animal mannerisms mixed together. Overall a satisfying narrative that has me wanting more.
I'll eventually upgrade to a more in depth review as the story progresses, but for now I will say this is definitely worth a read!
