Dungeon portals opened across the world, introducing monsters to the post modern era, circa 2150 AD. Machine guns, tanks, phased plasma rifles in the 40 Kwatt range, and particle cannons all proved ineffective, leading to experimental weaponry becoming the norm. Including new gene therapies that gave humans a fraction of the monster's power. Tools that Nox Hawke must use to survive, despite half the country hating him.
