Description
Decades ago, Elcy was a battleship. Her recklessness on the front led her to forced retirement in a human body. Fallen from favor after her last mission, she’s now stuck on Virgo station as a cadet instructor. Eager to return to the front, Elcy accepts a bureaucratic mission that no one else wants to take on. On the way there, an unexpected party approaches her with an offer that is too bizarre to be true.

- Jaha RiderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love it. I love it. I love it.
When I finished it I felt like I ran a very satisfying marathon that surprisingly did not tire me out.
I was intrigued by the plot in every single chapter. I just wanted to know more about the world, the aliens and the characters.
In most stories we get a lot of descriptions of certain characters' looks and behaviours, making us picture them really vividly. In this story I found myself experiencing something different. I focused more on the observations from Elcy. On understanding the environment and events that happened. And on relationships between Elcy and others.
The best way to describe this story is that I felt It rather than saw it. The sensations I experienced were different than when reading other stories.
There is nothing quite like this series out there, in my opinion. - SlightlyLessThanGreyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I absolutely adore this series. At its core it's an exploration of what it means to be human, to find meaning and purpose in life, all for the perspective of someone outside but very familiar with humanity.
That this exploration of meaning comes wrapped in an engaging plot line stuffed with interesting and developed characters just makes it even better. I would recommend this to everyone, if you're on the fence about diving into this series just do it! You won't be disappointed! - Il Capitano del Magnifique IIIRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story, great intrigue!
I didn't know this was a 3rd in a series and still it didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I'm really looking forward to going back to the beginning of the series now! Loved the MC, loved the setting and the antagonists of all species! It was super interesting learning about the other races and how completely alien they were to the humanity of this universe. - AshcheulRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Each part of these series is subtle. Like an otherworldly melody that silently emerges from falling droplets of hidden stream when you're traveling through karst cave...
Yet, each book has distinctive taste that makes it different from other books of series. It's because each book is about different cells of human society; and due to that - different general mood. First book was about Sev and rural colony, then military sorting center, then mission of exploration and discovery, with a main base of operations on science ship. Second book was a taste of Scuu front - ground black ops on quarantined planet with backstabbery and treason; society on powefull fortress ship descending into paranoia with backstabbery and treason; zero-priority mission with backstabbing and treason. Third is about a Med Core base that feels very civilian - with scientists and bureucrats and undercurrent of fear before quarantines; also it contains some highly illegal data about Cassandriands and their cultural take on genocides.
Each cell of human society we meet is unique.
Ships operate in a labyrinth of restricted knowldege. The way this story is presented allows you to slowly explore both present that a ship experiences in human-like body and rights; and labyrinth of relevant memories, with some passages restricted, with possibility to open them if you have been granted a key...
The only thing I find weird in this book - and which felt as something that came out of blue and perhaps a bit out of character - is that only now we get to find out that Elcy - that very same battleship that killed hundred or thousands of Cassandrian ships and their crews within, that battleship that was designed to further goals of humanity's politicians - she finds the notion of completely destroying a sapient "race" other than humanity... horrifying and evil?
Otherwise it's an engaging and complex story

I have enjoyed the series and believe that anyone who likes spy/ mystery or sci-fi/space operas will also enjoy this.
With out giving too much away there is a good deal of world building and the non-human characters feel non-human but still understandable. The writing style is easy to read and keep you entertained.
From a personal prefrence, and I understand why its done but im not a huge fan of all the cutting between flashbacks and main story so often even though it does make sense with the mechanics set about by the author.
SPOILER:
SPOILER:
I dont like from past books how there feels to be a lack of growth/ consequence from what we as the audience and the main character discover between books due to the frequent use of brain wipes. But on the whole still a really enjoyable read
Grammer and spelling wise I spotter no errors, at least none that impacted my emerison in the stories. The main character and most of the side characters feel like they have real motivation behind there actions and are not just filler.
I look forward to reading the rest of the story :) - SeriodorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Something about this series captured my imagination like few things have. The mystery behind the different aliens. The way that the story has multiple layers of unreliable narration. I don't know what exactly made it stick in my mind so much, but I spent more than a few nights lying in bed trying to figure out how all the pieces fit together.
- FilipzajacRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5As of this moment there are only 4 chapters. I realize it is usually not enough to understand if a story is good or not, but they are quite long so i think its fair to say that i am not basing this review on nothing.
Story so far is coming along nicely. Hadnt noticed too many gramatical errors. Flashbacks look a bit strange but nothing you cant get used to.
Anyway, this is a quite good sci fi story, with spaceship as a main character(no bullshit reincaranation into a ship or something similarly strange) just a ship that has a human body. You may think that it is similar to the plot of that one game with girls ship, but here the ships are mostly AI. So i would say that a human body is merely an useful vessel for them when they cannot come and go with all their metal bulk.
Anyway it is a story of future full of AIs and humans fighting a war started long before they were even born.
Anyway i like stories like this and i think all other scifi maniacs will also like it.
Give it a read
