Description

Humanity has finally done it! We finally made contact with a peaceful alien conglomerate! Unfortunately, they don't really want anything to do with us.

Despite this, they recognize the value in trading information and goods, so a light bit of cooperation is allowed near the borders.

Conrad McLaughlin is one of those lucky enough to be chosen to work on the trade lanes. Sadly his luck it is not always good luck, as the pirates boarding his ship have proven. Now he has to get out of here with his life, and without becoming the pariah of humanity in the eyes of the Galactic Community.

    The story bumps along at a good pace, hitting the main beats for HFY. You can quibble over how realistic some of the later interactions are, but they don't detract from the main story. That's just an artifact of this medium, where the story has not gone through an editing pass and does not harm it.
    If you like a fun Crouching Tiger, Hidden Human style of story, where humanity surprises the locals with how dangerous they are, then this is for you.

    I am eager to get the next chapter and the next...and the next.. I like the honor concept and that humanity implements this .. i like the pacing and that it slowly accelerates and gets more intense. I try not to fantasize too much so not to accidentally spoil myself but guessing the right thing but with the wrong content..so please give more before my brain start inventing stupid stuff to fill the gaps. Edit: many typos

    I like the MC, he is competent but not ridiculously over capable. I like the pacing and character perspective shifts and how the galactic culture is slowly being teased out.
    It is interesting to see humans from the perspective of aliens, especially as many seem to be herbavores. There are also some dark undertones coming up about how dangerous the Galactic Community (GalCom) can be.
    Well done, I look forward to reading more.
