Elaine Fortesque was a resident of a normal neighborhood, commuting from her home to her school in the early morning until she was caught in a terrorist attack. She, alongside many other passengers, were eventually found in a road tunnel. But at the moment of her death, she found herself spirited away into a foreign world with a new identity and nothing to rely on but a system.

Making use of her modern knowledge to deal with the system, she ended up stumbling upon a small shabby antique shop called 'The Black Cat' that forced her to realize that there was more to everything than just her and her system.
