Full disclosure: I don't know anything about League of Legends. I have never played the game or watched the show or movie. I went into this story one hundred percent ignorant of the content, but that did not stop me from enjoying this piece.
I want to stress that this is not a fan fiction. It's a story that, for lack of a better way to explain it,  exists outside of the League of Legends universe.
The writing is solid. I didn't see any grammar or spelling errors, and the style was easy to follow.
The story is compelling. I'm looking forward to reading more in the future. This will be a story I will be following.
The characters are well written and interesting. The protagonist is believable and his initial goal is well laid out right right from the start. And the antagonist we are introduced to is loathsome. The world is described well as well as the five characters we are introduced to.
If you like things like Ready Player One, virtual reality adventure, or just enjoy League of Legends or a good adventure story, then this story should be for you. Check it out; you won't be disappointed.

I have read many stories which have incorperated games, be them a fanfiction told by using the characters or people who were somehow teleported into the game.
The Bilgewater Battle Royale is a breath of fresh air in the genre because it does both, and does it well. Each character we meet not only have their own thoughts which hold some kinds of meta knowledge of the world, but they also appear get compolsions which were native to the 'character' they posessed. This helps the players survive, as well as explains why the original bodies act differently to the world around them.
The story is written well and has very good descriptions. I can see the docks and ships floating by, the chaos of an exploding warehouse, and the apparently crampness of an office with an overbearing authoritative figure. Once I started reading I struggled to stop through the first chapter, and then was introduced to another character at the second who was just as interesting.
If there is any flaws I see with this story right now it is the inconsistant chapter lengths. Some are long, like the first, while others are very short where it ends before we really get to delve deep into the story. This isn't a complaint that they chapters are bad but it did give a feeling that we were being left out from extra details, or cut off too soon.
Overall I'm giving the story 4.5 stars because the characters are interesting, the story itself seems to be moving in a very interesting direction, and the author has made some unique choices which I have enjoyed. Being honest, I didn't even know this was a League of Legends story until I read another review. The characters feel like their own, which is a great trait.
I would recommend the story if you like a bit of adventure. Happy reading!
