PreludeDuring the epoch of humanity. Many have sought the reasons for the creation of life. Many theories varying in credibility arise and are forgotten as time slowly, but surely flows forth. Most seek solace in the thought that all life has purpose. That it is not some random occurrence. That we are not born and formed by mere chance. Others think that what has been made, was made at the whims of some greater beings. But none were ever proven.Even with their fixation at finding out the mysteries of the beginning of life humanity still were more proactive in the ending of it. The wars over resources, pride and status. Massacres at the whims and powerplays of the powerful. The humble farmers murdered for their lands. The rape and pillaging for the mere momentary satisfaction of feeling superior to unfortunate souls. The common man with no grievance with their neighbours forced to fight others at the whims and manipulations of people in power. All it took was for time to develop technology and magic to reach a certain equilibrium to end it all for everything, at the hands of those desperate in power.At the end of the epoch of mankind. A woman made a breakthrough in technology and magic. A facility at the edge of the world. Funded by different organizations across the globe to develop weapons of such immensity that everyone calls them MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). Weapons they developed have never been used outside of minor tests. But man has escalated the violence too far against an opposition that would go to any lengths for victory... or mutual destruction.Authors Note:Hey there Penguins! It is I, Durlek the author! I have lurked about RR for a while now enjoying everything it has to offer. I decided in a fit of inspiration (and a nagging idea that has been gnawing at the edge of my mind for a week) to contribute to the stories that can be found in these enjoyable databanks.I have written short stories but never shared. I thought I will share my first few chapters and see if there is any interest for me to continue.
