The Ants

When a Soldier is killed in action by a monstrous machine/insectoid amalgamation he awakens in the body of a newborn child. He is confused at first, confused at his situation, confused at the large man holding him with a red seagull perched upon his head, confused at the insults thrown his way by the big guy.

A story about a soldier in a land of magic and spirits, and his attempts at surviving in a place where his family are sadistic sociopaths and everyone else sees him as little more than a hindrance.
