Description
Some say that being an adventurer doing quests for a living was a wonderful job because of the freedom and exploration that comes with the job.Unfortunately, that kind of life wasn't suited for everyone. - RainbowFoxRoyal Road★★★ 2.5There is many things you can write about this story but one thing will be such a major flaw that it eclipse the rest: inconsistent main character.
What I mean by that.
The MC is described in prelude as:
Ever since I got a Ph.D in theoretical physics, I thought that I would be able to find a nice job and live comfortably for the rest of my life.
Except I was wrong.
I lacked the communication skills and connections to secure a decent job.
My peers in academia ridiculed me for all my unsuccessful research.
All my students and assistants quit working under me because of my horrible reputation.
Worst of all, funding for my lab was about to get cut due to the lack of results, and I was about to get fired from my university researcher position.
If someone didn't know theoretical physicist is someone that is good at theory crafting and calculations. They almost always have some skill in programming and experimenting now days. Experimenting isn't their focus. They may have some skill in some engineering like high voltage electricity, electronics, vacuum technology and many others. But, there is always but. In most cases they don't have all the skills. Now, MC has somehow created a lovely wormhole generator and he has done something very idiotic. He has gone into it. You don't need a lot of brain cells to use a drone if you ware able to build this wormhole generator. If you do experiments you always write everything down, unless you have eidetic memory. Guess how many people have it. You have your answer. I won't be going into more details of his unsuccessful first life.
Then we have big skip (100 years) where he has learnt new language, magic (he is so called master of heat and flame), alchemy and some social skills. Why do I mention social skills, because somehow he is able to do a proper job at conversations.
Here we get new hole in MC. He has quited adventurer life because his magic is so powerful that he burns all that is valuable in monsters. I am myself a Ph.D. and I k - rusticsoldierRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I read to shopping for supplies.
Main character comes across as stupid. Story itself was boring. For a slice of life. It was not funny or cute, just bland. For action it was dull. For naming sense it had no thought put into it.
Everything just happened the mc was a archmage in a year or something while he still could barely read, or speak, some communication issue. Yet he can hang out at a bar and listen to stories. And buy spell books. On a scale of one to ten id give this story a 3.
I read non english speaker stories, that was more interesting.
Im not sure, but I believe the author wanted to make a ditzy. Mc that was an amoral character. I also think the author was attempting a funny evil character. giving my thoughts on this sad tale.
I really had issues coming up with a star rating.. What do I give. I mean this was pretty bad for a story. Maybe it was a first draft.. Or the author will come back later to revisit his first chapters. I tried to submit without giving a star rating. If I give one star which this story deserves and the authors fixes up the story later. I don believe I can edit the rating so I give it 3.5 which is still a fail but maybe there someone who really really likes this. I'd give the author a blue ribbon for participating
