Description

Einarr Stigandersen is the dispossessed prince of Raenshold, his father its landless Thane. They sail from port to port, leading a vagabond's life aboard the longshipVidofnir, until a fateful battle with a demon ship and an unnatural storm send them reeling to Kjell Hall. A princess' beauty and the Jarl's wrath soon conspire to send Einarr on a series of impossible quests.

Will Einarr and the Vidofnings find adventure, glory, and revenge, or will they end as ashes in the frozen seas?

    Great as the title said, I have to say that this novel it's amazing and I don't know why it's so unknown. It's well written, the charachters are well depicted, and there is a good story, I recommend all of you to try it, it's just the first 3 or 4 chapters that are a little slow and maybe someone is stopped by this, but after that it's really nice. A litlle summary: we'll see the adventure of Einarr, his father, and their clan/crew to reconquer their "reign", in a world of the viking age, with magic, mythological creatures, where there are the concepts of honor, loyalty, love and a lot more, I will not say anithing more because you have to read it.
    If the author is reading I'd want to say in my humble opinion some hints that maybe are also the reasons of not so many readers: with the premise that I'm not the one who says "too slow, fast fast etc. etc.", I think that the start has a lot of description but lack of just a pair of sentences to catch fully the reader as "how many sailors/warriors are on the Vidofnir?" or in another way " how many members have this clan?", and "how big is this vidofnir?", they are just little bit of information but i think they'll give a more complete picture. Another thing is the world building, as I said there are very nice description but we don't know pratically nothing of where are our crew, they sail, they dock somewhere, it'll be a more interesting know more pratical information, not exhaustive but what we could call " the common knowledge". The last thing, the author use terms that I think are of the vikings age (and this show how much hard work is used) but with no explations, sure, you'll understand but maybe just some words before or after will make clearer that type of race or that place etc. etc. hopefully to be not desrespectful
    I can only say to all, GO AND GIVE A TRY AND YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

    It's strange but this story seems to be quite unknown with not many readers and barely any comments in it, even though it is very good and has been around for a long time with many chapters.
    Einarr's father and their longship crew want to reclaim their home and thanedom which they lost to treachery and dark magics when he was a little boy, at the same time Einarr wants to get jarl's approval to marry that one's daughter. To succeed in the latter (and the former if possible), he has to solve many tasks and beat lots of obstacles, one more difficult than the other.
    Style: The story is told in third-person internal style from Einarr's POV (and I remember two short scenes with different POV). The descriptions are good, the story arcs well-crafted and the literary devices skillfully used.
    Story: The adventures Einarr experiences heavily draw from Norse myth and mysticism (gods, mythical beasts, various kinds of magic) and are presented like the Homeric Odyssey (having many adventures and solving tasks during a convoluted sea voyage). The pacing is fine, exciting scenes alternating with more quiet moments and there is a clear overarching (double-)plot with multiple but clearly defined sub-plots. The whole story is divided into shorter "books" that each follow a completed sub-story arc with a solid but manageable length if you don't want to read everything at once.
    Grammar: Excellent and I noticed only very few typos.
    Characters: The people we meet during the story exhibit many of the cliché characteristics of pop culture Vikings: strong, courageous, good sailors, true to their word. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. Einarr is a MC the readers can easily identify with, tackling difficult tasks with as much courage as we modern basement-dwellers enviously tell ourselves we would have in such a situation in order to win the most precious of prices.     I would recommend this book to anyone that sees it on that fact alone.
    When I have some spare time, I will be reading this fiction.

    This magical viking story is one of the best stories i ever read. From the beginning till the end, i loved everything.
    The World building was nice, if a bit lacking ! It would have deserved a few more chapters ! The caractères were nice and definitly not one-dimentional !

    If you enjoy a great adventure, fantasy mixed with some nice action this if for you. Are you interested in north mythos, this is for you. Do not be intimidated by the first chapters, even if you do not know some names from north mythos you can google easily, and they mostly appear in the first several chapters. The writing style is print level, story, and characters are interesting. The author does manage to capture the feel of the northern mythos and culture. Amazing work! I feel stupid for not finding it earlier.

    This story has entertained and educated me about the Vikings. I look forward to each and every chapter it is very well written and keeps you wanting and coming back for more. The characters and mythology are so engaging that I almost wish I could be a crew member for Einarr when he finally launches his own longship.
