Blue Eagle--also known as David Dufraine--was born with incredible strength, powerful eyebeams, superhuman senses, and the amazing ability of flight. Possessing a strong sense of justice, he seeks to protect the city from criminals who prey on the innocent. Having taught these values to his son Jack, who possesses similar abilities, they protect Herald City as Blue Eagle and Switch the Blue Eaglet! Together, the Father-Son Duo wages a war on crazy criminals and notorious ne'er-do-wells, including the powerful perverter of plant life,QUEEN VENUS.
These are the adventures ofBLUE EAGLEandSWITCH THE BLUE EAGLET."
Welcome, everybody! This superhero adventure is a nostalgic return to the good ol' days of the Filmation and Hanna-Barbera superhero cartoons of the 1960s and 70s. With Super Friends, The Adventures of Super Boy, and The Adventures of Batman and The New Adventures of Batman as inspiration, I hope to take you back to the olden days of wacky stories jam-packed with superhero action and excitement!
This is actually a leadup of a much larger project I'm working on (which will be played straight, have a darker and more serious tone, and will be a multi-season serialized epic). I've been itching to publish something with my characters for some time, and this episodic miniseries just scratches that itch. So while my main series is being written, I hope you find some enjoyment in some good old fashioned superhero fun.

- Edge ValmondRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style:
I do not grade style, though for my own personal take. I’d say it is entertaining, something you’d find more in a comic really.
Grammar:
I did find some issues with missing words here and there, at times with the spelling. Overall though, it is fine.
Story:
This is where I find things most interesting, as while there is a story overall. Each feels more like a short in itself. A beginning, middle, and end. This gives time to enjoy the setting, the individual conflict, and get a better feel on the type of world it is. It starts off introducing Blue Eagle and his sidekick in a bank heist or something. Then getting into a kidnapping, afterwards aliens, and so on. So, each part of the story has something new and refreshing to it. Which I have to say is its strong point, no issues here. It reminds me of those superhero shows or comics with something new going on, while still maintaining its central conflict. Which is the feud between Queen Venus and the heroes.
Character Score:
While banking on clichés here, it does well to make use of them. Showing the characters in their day to day life, while also of their superhero life. Then the villain side, while nothing new to say. It does do well to give them their own personalities. As a whole all around, this is done pretty good.
Overall,
This is a solid story, and I’d recommend giving it a go. From one end to the next, it does perform and is an entertaining read. For a slight critique, I do find the story a bit too straight forward. It could just be the wording choice, and with slightly better ones, it might make this problem go away for myself. Another thing is descriptions, which there needs to be more to get a better visual. That is all really, I can see myself reading this. Despite its small flaws, it does more than enough to make up for it. This story feels more old school, and it is quite nice to say.
Edit: I ended up reading all of it, so yeah, give it a try for yourself. - Roof MonsterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Blue Eagle is a series that picked an odd niche, one that often is a butt of jokes regarding a simpler time for super heroes, and then executes it perfectly.
Blue Eagle plays more or less entirely straight the old 1940 and 1950's style of super hero comics where it's a super-dad and super-son squaring off with a botany obsessed super villaness and her two nearly useless lackies, with each chapter being self contained adventures of the week.
The prose is clean, and each story is paced very well with an introduction, rising action, a climax, then a short little resolution with a wholesome sensible chuckle at the end.
I highly recommend reading a few chapters whenever you need a refresher from long serials that are too serious for their own good, or too complicated, or dwell too long on feelings. Step back to when the good guys were just good, the bad guys chewed scenery, and the police asked 'Well how did you do it, Blue Eagle?!' - DoomedstarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I mean, what can I say? If you're looking for a simple, feel-good read, this is it. It perfectly captures the style of Silver Age comic books in prose form. That's a 5/5 style- and story-wise. The grammar was immaculate. The characters might not have been Alan Moore-esque deconstructions of the human psyche, but they weren't trying to be. They were trying to be Blue Eagle and Switch, father/son crimefighting duo, as wholesome a team that has ever existed.
I think this story perfectly captures the aspirational quality of superhero stories, which is something we should never forget about when we think of what a superhero is. Not everything needs to be grim and dour. Batman doesn't need to brand people. Superman doesn't need to snap necks in front of terrified onlookers. Things like that usually take away from the core of what makes those characters special to the people who admire them. Every superhero story could stand to have a little bit more of this one at their center. - J NelkinsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The fiction describes the adventures of the superheroes Blue Eagle and Switch as they confront their arch-nemesis, Queen Venus, and other enemies who threaten Herald City. They engage in battles and investigate various crimes, including robberies and mind-control schemes. Throughout the fiction, the superheroes work together to save the city and its citizens, using their unique abilities to overcome their foes. The stories are action-packed and engaging, with well-defined characters and vivid descriptions of the action scenes.
In the first chapter of Blue Eagle by TienSwitch, readers are introduced to the two superheroes, Blue Eagle and Switch, as they attempt to stop Queen Venus and her henchmen from stealing the Diamante Diamond at the Herald City Jewel Expo. The writing style is fast-paced and engaging, with simple yet effective descriptions that help to create a sense of urgency and action. The grammar is well-structured, making it easy for readers to follow along.
While the story is a classic superhero tale with limited character development, it is an enjoyable read with exciting action scenes. The characters are archetypes of heroes and villains, but their interactions are entertaining and their motivations are clear. Overall, the story is a quick and fun read that will appeal to fans of superhero fiction.
Style - The author uses a clear and engaging writing style that is well-suited to the fast-paced action of superhero stories. The descriptions of action scenes are vivid and easy to follow. For example, how the author describes the battle between Blue Eagle and Switch and Queen Venus in a way that keeps the reader engaged and interested in the outcome.
Story - The story is a classic superhero tale with a clear plot and well-defined characters. The action scenes are exciting and well-paced, and there are enough plot twists to keep the reader engaged. And raising the stakes for the heroes by introducing for example the idea of mind-controlled citizens, which a - Matt FusionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Wow. I must say that this is the best Superhero Novel I have ever read on RoyalRoad. It has a classic comic book touch to it that works very well, and I absolutely loved it. For some reason it reminds me of the cartoon series Batman: The Brave and Beyond.
Style: The prose in very good and the storytelling I found to be very suspenseful, with some scenes have you on the edge of your seat wondering what happens next. Sometimes there are some twists and turns that have you in awe your like 'HOW?!' It's a pretty fun read, easy to understand too.
Story: Okay so this is more of a serialized episodic type novel, so each chapter is like a new exciting story building off of its own, just the old DC cartoons. The main villan or villaness is Queen Venus, and boy can she carry a story with just her dialogue and humor. But overall it's about the day to day protecting of Herald City from criminals, villains, aliens and outsiders with wicked schemes.
Grammar: There are no major grammar errors here, so I have no need to bring out the grammar poilice.
Character: The characters are very down to earth and comedic. Blue Eagle and Eaglet sort of give off a more friendly Batman-Robin dynamic, which gives the story this wholesome feeling seeing father and son fight crime together. The other characters are pretty cool and entertaining, but the ones that really stick out to me are Blue Eagle, Eaglet, Venus and her goons. Their interactions are just priceless.
Overall this is a very good book that I recommend for reading to any age group. Give it a try. You just might love it. - UEMARBIRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5For this review, I'll break down some things into components.
First, I would like to say that the story was entertaining to read. However, with that said, there are very few character developments.
The story follows along the classic superhero vs. super villain type comic, and it excels in doing just that. It gives a satisfying tale and sums it up at the end for a good conclusion.
The best part for me would be the jokes. I often read about intense stories, so this was like getting some fresh air.
Everything about this story was written masterfully, from the way characters interacted to the way the villains laughed. It's hard making a villain entertaining, but somehow this story does just that. I was rooting for the villain more often than the heroes.
The only flaw to this would be character development. I can't stress this enough. The story follows a "And then this happened." It does not have an actual main story but a collection of sub-stories. - MerrikkiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Aight technicalities!
-Style 5/5, It's good, to be honest, and it's very charming to read, and very much nostalgic for those who grew up with this kind of writing.
-Grammar 5/5, It's clean and concise, nothing more, nothing less. There may be some things that slipped into the cracks, but that's natural and the author will probably fix it as quick as a flash of light.
Now, the main show as always!
Nostalgic....? somewhat? to be honest, I didn't grow up on classic comics, but my parents did read to me or I usually just nick one of the comic books on the shelf and read it myself, and overall the author has captured that sense of the retro jive that I've read on classic comic books, where the story is solid and tidy! as... any other classic comic book writing.
There's a problem when you bring the classic as a whole and well, you're going to bring the problems that the classics have too! Which is the usual when reading classic comic books, no stakes, no spice! The city that said hero(es) protects as well as the hero(es) themselves, will go back to normal as usual where the wounds that the villains inflicted, will disappear just in time for another scheme to replace the old one.
And of course, the characters too. They are written well and solid like the story too, but in the end, they are, by their core are just walking tropes, they're monotonous in general.
Overall it's still good and I would recommend it for those who want a trip down memory lane or want to know how classic comic writing is! The story is still solid, the characters are still solid! But... again, the problem is for those that don't really have nostalgia for these kinds of writing, so it's not for everyone if they are looking for something to read just for fun.
Sincerely, The Fiddling Cat.
Ciao! - SchroedingersBandRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Have you been needing that good ol' dose of pre-2000s superhero comics and cartoons, complete with goofy minions, crazy plots by an enjoyable villain, and action-packed scenes? Well look no further! Blue Eagle has it all, written just so that I can practically feel the comic book pages turning and a memorable theme song playing in my head!
- Sketch SanchezRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Excellent and no frills superhero action! Exactly as it says on the tin, Blue Eagle is a fun and action packed tale of two fisted adventure. The dialogue is snappy and reads authentic to golden age comics it really hit all the right notes. The narrative breaks worked well and one could easily see them fit into yellow boxes like comics of yore.
- Golenishchev AndreyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I like how easy and relaxed the narration is. While reading, it was as if I plunged into the distant deep waters of my childhood, when I enjoyed superhero sitcoms and cartoons. Since the first chapter, a smile of pleasure has not left my face. There is a clear separation between good and bad characters in the story, no grey zones, everything obvious and easy to follow. The narrative style is linear. Tension and childish delight are constantly felt. The vibe is great, well thought out for this setting. The descriptions are short, succinct and clear. A picture of what is happening immediately appears in one’s mind the moment you read it. that’s it about writing, and now to what I think about this book when it comes to my personal preferences. Yes, I can say that I've enjoyed what I've read, but this book is not something I’ll get too invested in. When reading it, I had a feeling that everything I read in this book I already have read/watched somewhere else, someone might say that it’s a bit cliché. We’re living in times when superhero works are the mainstream. Directors and screenwriters are constantly trying to deviate from the canons, a fresh look into old tropes. This novel is more like Spiderman 1994, rather than "The Boys" or "Invincible" For fans of more traditional “Superman” style works and more traditional superhero stories, where superheroes are always in the right, well, this story is for you.
