- Mor_aRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There is a famous quote from Nietzsche that best encapsulates the themes of this work. I won’t recite it at the risk of sounding cliché, but the first part of the passage serves as the title of my review.
The Abyssal Heir is an incredibly strong work—so vivid in its presentation and rich in style that I find it difficult to put into words. It is, by all means, remarkable. When I write reviews, I typically note areas that could be improved. Yet, as I kept reading, many of my initial critiques became obsolete.
That being said, the story is not without its flaws, however minor they may be.
Story
The action sequences in the first few chapters are excellent—fluid, immersive, and vividly described. However, their buildup feels somewhat lacking. To elevate the combat scenes, I’d love to see more depth in the moments between fights. Instead of skipping over mundane actions—like when the protagonist goes to bed or completes tasks that don’t directly impact the plot—these quieter moments could be used to develop character and atmosphere. Seemingly insignificant interactions with the environment can do wonders in showing us who the characters truly are.
What’s done well is done exceptionally well—the pacing often feels like a mad dash from one gripping moment to the next. However, this rapid momentum highlights a small flaw: the quieter in-between moments can feel somewhat empty.
The bond between Ahri and Jae-Hyun also feels a bit rushed. From Chapter 3 onward, the pacing shifts slightly, moving quickly past key emotional developments. There isn’t enough setup before diving into crucial interactions, making certain moments feel abrupt. While the pacing works in its current form, if the story is ever published (which I’m sure it will be), I’d love to see their initial journey and meeting expanded. More interaction, less action—especially in the early parts of the story. The narrative begins with a deeply emotional tone, but the exploration of Jae-Hyun’s inner world takes a brie - NafamericRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Abyssal Heir is an adventure that combines high-stakes battles, character development, and a structured progression system. The story features world-building and character arcs that contribute to its place in the LitRPG genre.
The protagonist, Jae-Hyun, is depicted with determination and strategic skill, providing a dynamic element to the narrative. His battle against the Spine Tyrant, Thragath, involves intense moments and strategic planning. The inclusion of the shadow army, particularly Kaelzar, adds a notable aspect to the combat sequences, aligning with summon-focused characters in the genre while maintaining originality.
The multi-perspective storytelling is a distinguishing feature. Ahri’s independent journey on the 5th floor highlights her challenges and development in a dangerous environment. Mi-Rae’s storyline introduces guild politics and familial issues, adding emotional stakes to the narrative. These perspectives enhance the world-building, offering readers a broader view beyond the main protagonist.
System mechanics are integrated into the plot, with elements like the system’s personality adding humor to tense situations. The story maintains engagement with twists, such as Thragath’s Rage Mode and enigmatic NPCs that add complexity.
The pacing slows during reflective moments, particularly when changing perspectives, which may interrupt continuous action. However, these moments develop characters’ motivations and relationships, contributing to the story's emotional depth.
Overall, The Abyssal Heir incorporates action, intrigue, and emotional elements, catering to fans of progression-based stories like Solo Leveling. With its detailed characters, inventive combat, and mysteries, this story offers a fresh perspective on the LitRPG genre.

Story Score
The story is inspired from solo leveling and I see that a lot (which I love) The MC is a character you can easily root for and the progression of his strength is very fun to witness. A mix of dark and intense moments that are right up my alley.
Grammar Score
The grammar is perfect and well done ✅
Character Score
I like the MC and Ahri, the contrast between their characters is a very nice dynamic. The MC is very dedicated to his goal for revenge and I respect that. Although I have yet to connect with Ahri as a character but I like that she isn't a burden to the MC .
Overall, I love the Abyssal heir. I was a bit intimidated by the amount of words per chapter but soon enough I was craving for more and kept forgetting the chapter length as the story progresses. Keep up the good work! 💪 ❤️ - TarStickyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In "The Abyssal Heir," Jae-Hyun's emotional journey takes center stage, thrusting readers into a dark world where trust is rare, and survival is an ongoing struggle. Betrayed by those he once admired, Jae-Hyun transforms from a disgraced guild member into a hardened survivor, driven by determination and vengeance.
The bond between Jae-Hyun and his companion, Ahri, adds warmth to the narrative. As a skilled warrior and comrade, Ahri helps explore themes of friendship and loyalty amidst a treacherous landscape plagued by danger and treacherous politics.Trust is hard to find in this world, so they're a great ally for Jae-Hyun to have.
Masterful world-building brings immersive environments like the Hollow Dreadlands and treacherous labyrinth to life, while a well-crafted progression system adds a strategic layer to the story. There's something about fantasy towers that gets me going, and this story has it all. Skillfully interwoven action scenes and delicate moments reveal Jae-Hyun's internal conflicts, maintaining reader investment and facilitating character development.
"The Abyssal Heir" offers a seamless reading experience, thanks to its impeccable pacing and grammar. The story flows effortlessly, making it easy for readers to immerse themselves in the unfolding plot. This compelling narrative is highly recommended for those seeking an engaging and well-crafted tale. - ZealousHotDogRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far the start is very good.
The storyline and character build really well and you can gain a perspective into the mind of the character easily. I also love the way it appears that the lead is coming from a good moral background, and the premise appears that he will be corrupted. I don't know where the author will go with but I am excited to see.
The scenes the author is creating is vivid, and clear for hen reading. It makes I easy to follow. Also, a big plus for me, some of the litRPG isn't overpowering, but heavily incorporated in the story that those who are not big fans of that genre can still enjoy the immersive story line so far.
It's also amazing that the author takes advice and implements them amazingly. He/She is not afraid to make any changes that can help advance the story and engage the readers.
I am only on chapter two, but there is a lot. I am one for a fan of smaller chapters even if multiple are released all at once. But I know people who love the longer chapters.
Exciting to see where this story will go. Anyone readying this story and have any advice for the author, don't be afraid to comment. The person is down to earth and very gracious.
