The 8th Day

Description

One day life is good. The next day it isn't! The boundaries between... well, whatever they're between.. have shattered! Monsters burst out from cracks in the universe, and reality suddenly begins to function similar to a game -- but not a game that anyone knows all the rules about! Magic is suddenly real, but so are monsters and death! Lots of death! And the worst part of it all?I think we did it to ourselves! We invented video games, and personally I think that great Finger-in-the-Sky picked up a console somewhere and started playing them. Since He liked what he saw, he must've declared, """"On the 8th Day, let there be Game!"But what do I know about it all, really. After all, I'm just """"The Witness"""" forced to observe it all.__________________________________________________________________________Author's Note: There's a lot of tales where characters get stuck in a Virtual Reality. """"Sword Art Online"""", """"Log Horizon"""", """"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor"""". This is a story told with the premise inverted -- instead of a person from reality going into a virtual world, what would happen if the virtual world instead came to reality?I want this tale to speak about the aspects of the game, as it has affected the current reality, but the focus of the story should never be on the """"reality-turned-game"""" itself, but on the characters and their oh-so-human struggles, personalities, and attempt to adjust and live within the bounds of their new existence.Hopefully this won't just be a story of """"reality turned into a game"""", but instead will be something more meaningful such as a story of the strengths, perseverance, and humanity of man-kind as they try to adapt and face the unknown.*** And, most importantly, I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. ***WARNING: RATED MATURE M[18+] FOR GORE, SEX, VIOLENCE. The apocalypse isn't a pretty place to try to survive in, and neither is every scene in a story trying to describe it.

This story has a unique twist to the plot and will keep you reading on into the night. Basically instead of the main character going into another world, the other world comes to ours!
Great story plot, great character development, and It doesn't seem to slow down.  Would like to see book 4+ as the bullets at the are intriguing

What I love about this story is the character development and the care for details that this author has, I find myself drawn into the characters as actual people with hopes dreams and ambitions. The author has diverged from the normal "let's go kill stuff and get power ups" that comes with is genre of story. Simply put, this story isn't anything new, however, it's the way that the author takes a given plot and concept and makes it his own that captures the reader.
Brandon Sanderson once said in one of his lectures that (not an exact quote) you can have the best ideas, the best plot, the best characters, but it's the way you write that makes a book.
thats why for this story I can't imagine giving it anything other than 5 stars, simply because while reading, you can tell the work he has put in and you can tell the hours that he has spent thinking of chapters. I think that in itself is remarkable.

I've been lurking on the site for ages, reading here and there and finding some stories which I liked and a whole bunch that I didn't.  And then I found this story, and I loved it enough, that I wanted to support it so that my views would help offset some of the people who don't "get it".
This isn't a tale of a super powerful  guy who gets popped into a fantasy world and then proceeds to destroy everything and take over.  It's a tale of a plain, or even a little below average, high school boy who gets stuck witnessing the end of the world.  He has no great fighting skills, no great military or crafting skills.  He doesn't just pick up a piece of metal, pound it twice with his fist and presto!  Magic Sword of Kickass +3000!
He's not a builder.  Not a crafter.  Not a warrior, and doesn't have any magic or super power which he can utilize to quickly out power everyone else.  What does he have?   Simply the ability to come back to life and keep trying after he dies.  He won't stay dead, but that doesn't mean he can just blaze his way past everything.   At one point, he gets cocky and thinks he's a bad dude -- and he prompt gets eaten by rats.  And, when he comes back to life close to them, he gets eaten again.  And again.  And again.  And once more for good measure, I think!
Just because you can come back and try over, it doesn't mean you'll eventually succeed.  No matter how many times you come back to life and jump into a bubbling volcano, you're not going to eventually jump across it.   It's that sort of sensation.  And I like it!
People say the character is an idiot they can't relate to.  Why?  I manage to relate to him just fine.  He has struggles of morality, and I like that a lot.  "I only did what I had to do" is what he tells himself, and yet after a bit, he realizes that he simply doesn't want to use that excuse to allow himself to give up on his humanity.
Kidnapping, torture, tormenting another creature just to make your own burden lighter?  At first, he does

Realy love the story it as an interesting twist on the idea of the real world becoming like a game et some realy funny character a litle bit of smurf but who doesn't enjoy a creeper boy who accept himself. The short chapter take a litle bit geting use to but on the other hand the multiple chapter that come out every day make me refresh my reading list so much in the same day that i surprise myself.

If you are an open-minded adult you will enjoy this story that manages to shine between countless other *copies* of the same idea. A new different prospective and as close to reality as possible.
Kids not everyone is a retired army marine who can handle the apocalypse.
I admit that I enjoy the perverted side of this story which is called *fan-service*. Let me remind you how dependant on fanservice are anime and manga right now. And it’s not a biggie like we get explicit fully described erotic scenes. There are other “top stories” in this site that should contain the porn tag but this one aint got it. Mature/ adult is enough here.

This is truly a story I've been looking for. For a while now I've been reading apocalyptic fics and always the main character is confident in knowing what to do, has the intelligence to figure everything out, and just gathers followers that never question anything he does as the smartest choice because that's obviously the best choice the author can think up.
But sitting here reading your work, I see the situations your characters get into and I can on the spot think of better ways to do the things they're doing and I'll assume you likely can too. But you choose instead to embrace who your character is and their level of knowledge and confidence. You have them handle a situation not how you would, but how someone in their situation, with their experience, their knowledge, their personality would. That's what's truly moving about this fic, not that the characters are the most badass around, but that they lack confidence, doubt themselves, but then do the most courageous thing, they accept that fact and work through it together. Being strong alone is a lot easier than admitting to someone that you can't do it alone and asking for their help.
I wait eagerly for every new chapter.

At first the story was really interesting. A good pace and well developed character in both his reactions and thought process. However in recent chapters he has become more of a groupie than a lead character. The others have both power and brains and all he has is… resurrection. OP as fk sure but his dense idiotic ways are starting to grind on my nerves.
The pace of the story pretty much comes to a halt once he finds another person. we then get five chapters of dry humping and unnecessary nudity… that in my opinion is just stupid.
run out of fabric? are there no drapes in this school!?
Now everyone but the MC is powerful and capable of killing scores of enemies in a blink and he’s just in a corner bumping a goblin on the head till he wins. Where is the emotion? the drive? the stress of near death environment!?
There’s a whole island for the school, can’t there be anything more interesting than hallways and monsters? wheres the science rooms, nurses offices and why can’t they look into lockers for supplies? It just seems like this school for rich diversity and learning is rather small and boring.
I’m not trying to be mean here, I really do like the idea of an apocalyptic scenario where game reality breaks into reality. And I think him being able to respawn is interesting. but the flirting couples have to dial it down a notch, stop humping each other and start getting out of the death trap they are currently in.

This is just my opinion so if ya don't like it don't read it............. I read until chapter 30 before I got fed up with it,  the story is pretty original and well thought out, the heroine is a wonderful character to read; but most importantly the MC is an utter and complete moron. Its gone far beyond making him seem more human and right into me wondering what hes doing walking around without a helmet on and a bib to wipe the drool off his face. Someone that brainless has no place in a school of any kind, let alone a multi-cultural one.
In conclusion I have to say, this story had a lot of potential in it, but the MC killed it for me.

P.S:This is my updated review after reading up to chapter 50
This story had a pretty nice start and the first 30 or so chapters was also really good. Then everything started to go down hill. The author had good character building in the beginning then he overworked on it and completely ruined it.The latest chapters are filled with logics that didn’t make any sense at all.And finally after the initial build the tweaks made by the author made the mc too dumb to be the mc and also  for a  apocalypse+game story the action is too little. Also on the side note  this story at the moment is like 75% fan service and 25% story,i don’t really mind the occasional sexual content but i think this story have a lot of it for no particular reason.Overall the story lost its charm which it had in the beginning and now it kind of sucks….

It is just a little bit better than some porn novel, in fact it should be made into a porn movie. It will do very well. The starting had good potential but soon we find out how big of an idiot(stupid) MC really is. There isn't any hero, villain but there are co@k sucker, slaves and "can you even call them human". Again, if you are here for some erotic novel in very chapter than you have come to the right place but if you are here for a good story where you see the character build-up then move along, nothing to see here.
