- HydragonthecreatorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The book is a pretty good read, with the plot being quite interesting. It takes its time slowly setting up the premise, giving us lore about the multiverse bit by bit. The MC Hiro is your standard hero, but it's still pulled off decently well, if a bit bland.
The main critique I have is the grammar. It's a bit rough for me, but still ignorable when I get sucked into the world.
Overall, it's a good read. - Octocat8Royal Road★★★★ 4.0It's a good story with many original ideas. Action is solid, not too fast but present from the beginning. Our MC is not naive and rather powerful, mission oriented and idealistic, I think. The stakes are high, battles are epic and there is a conspiracy spanning multiple worlds. Our MC will face all of it alone - well he does have a incorporeal guide, so not so very alone.
It's not all great however - the author's style is still developing, so it feels amateurish. Some sentences feel forced or lack a word here and there. Scenes could be explored more, character's thoughts and dialogue often lack extra depth. But I'm rooting for the author and see the potential for growth. Also, I'm not sure where the "familiar" part of the title comes from: the MC died and lives again by the grace of mysterious forces... Maybe I'm not there yet. - The_Eternal_TreeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm not gonna lie. I am not the biggest fan of Hero vs Demon Lord fantasies with generic power systems. But this one suprised me in a positive way.
I like how the trope got subverted at the end of first chapter (I'm not going to spoil it, title says what happened, but how it happened is what suprised me.)
Like someone said before I to am not entirely sure where exacly the "Familiar" part comes in but that may be explained later.
The story also has a lot of mysteries, and I'm glad it doesnt explain them right away.
The whole multiverse is also a good idea, I like stories that introduce it early.
As for the things I wasn't the biggest fan of.
In the early chapters writing feels a bit... weird. Some dialogues are straight just infodumps, mainly in second chapter.
The dialogue sometimes confuses me a little, I'm not sure who said which line sometimes.
The first chapter is also long. Like very long for me. Maybe it's just my personal preference but chapters with around 2k words are fine, but to be completly honest later chapters seem completly fine in lenght.
Overall the story has a lot of potential and so far it's good. I hope the small mistakes would be corrected in future chapters I reccomend it overall.
