- RestlessSinnerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good start , but i think that it is a proper time to introduce our character . What kind of school did he attend or some of his hobbies. Consider doing more detailed descriptions of things , for example his spider like legs , he is a slime witch means that he doesn't have any bone marrow or exoskeleton to support his weight , consider using sticks as a bones and his slime as muscles to hold it together or something .
- BullerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The most outgoing part of this story is the unstoppable amount of wrongly-tensed verbs. Honestly, I have had legitimate trouble reading some of it due to this. Couple that together with the author forgetting to write some words here and there and you have what's commonly known as a giant pile of mismatched words needing to be edited extensively.
It has potential as all other stories have. That means that what's shown right now isn't what it should be. I recommend a rewrite and a helping hand in reading over what has been written.
According to the comments, this was originally a fanfiction of some kind. Not sure which it Is entirely, but I am suspecting it might be "that time I got reincarnated as a slime". Fits with the name and all that other stuff. Also explains why it's been essentially ripped off here.
Since there hasn't been enough to really say anything about the personalities I'll just go ahead and give this 4/5 on the rating. It really needs more work. - EddieSebRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Disclaimer, I was asked to review this story. Also I have not seen the original source material.
Style: In my opinion this may be the weakest part of the story. There are places where it sticks out with poorly chosen words and weird phrasing. Doesn't make it unreadable.
Grammar: There are noticeable grammatical mistakes but it is not too bad. Punctuation seems to be a main one which isn’t too detracting from reader enjoyment.
Story: There is not that many chapters out right now so I can't really tell where it's going. The high score is mostly based on the premise, a war photographer in a fantasy world? It sounds interesting enough and there's potential for a very interesting adventure. I can’t comment on the canon story, as I do not know it, so I can’t say if it is better to stick close to it or diverge.
Character: Seems to be good, again considering the fact that there aren’t many chapters out right now. We do not know much about him but the fact that there is a dragon is a plus in my book.
Overall, there is potential and it depends where the story goes. I think it would be best to lean into the premise itself and add in some real life fact about what war photgraphers atually do. - Derin_EdalaRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The title says it all. This is the story of a war photographer reincarnated as a slime.
The general grammar and style isn't fantastic, with a lot of very clumsy sentences and not much characterisation, but it's impressive given that English isn't the writer's native language. The premise itself is interesting, and the presence of Astalos is bound to make things interesting. If you like reincarnation stories, and can handle the fairly basic execution, this one is worth a look. - ArgyleInsectRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This review is part of a swap.
Also a note that I start with five stars and remove stars when I see issues. The story isn't necessarily amazing at this point, but the biggest issue I've seen so far is the clear lack of research as to how frontline reporters actually interact with the theater and the soliders accompanying them. The protagonist's perspective about his past seems reasonable despite this, so I don't care too much.
First things first, I'm pretty sure this is a fanfic of the slime reincarnation series, not an original work. "What, the title didn't tip you off?" you might ask. I'd argue there are so many derivative titles in the subgenre that the title doesn't mean much when there's no fanfiction tag nor reference in the blurb to the original series, but that's just me.
In any event, I haven't read TTIGRAAS. I just saw a note in one of the comments and looked up the synopsis of the original series.
As in the original series, this story starts out with a human from our world dying and being reincarnated as a slime, and then immediately encountering a dragon sealed away for 300 years for destroying a town, at which point the protagonist promises to break the seal.
This is the point where I question my own consistency, because it feels like I can't decide whether I want the author to break away from conventions or adhere to things that already exist.
On the one hand, the single most iconic trait of slimes, in my mind, is their corrosive, gelatinous body which puts them at the top of the food chain since mundane creatures can't eat them and they can eat anything smaller than them.
That doesn't seem to be the case here. Slimes seem to have a tasty bag of nutrients for a body which rats will happily devour if they get the chance, while we focus on the ability for a slime to alter their body structure with tremendous effort. Since, again, I haven't read the original series, I don't know how much this adheres to that.
The aforementioned dragon itself gives me seri - Bishop of the LambRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Ima keep it short. Story has potential the mc seems kinda dumb and has unexplained abilities the author assumes you know or hopes that no one will ask about them. i would give it 2 stars but the author at least uses the plot from the original work hence its hard to ef this up
- ZearthRoyal Road★★★ 2.5One sentence to describe this would be a Hit or Miss.
While I have read the original light novel and therefore would know what comes next, even though it's to be turned into an original story, the current issues seen in the chapters makes assumptions that the reader already knows what happens within the original story, and skips ahead with the descriptions. Even when there is descriptions, like those found in the first chapter, it feels too rigid, too short an introduction to the story. In Media Res is a double edged sword that must be refined.
There is also a disconnect with being the MC. Being a war photographer, you'd expect him to be a civilian being protected, but he addresses those on the ride as if they're all soldiers, and he doesn't act like someone who can't get used to seeing war.
Overall, I'd say its a Hit or Miss. It needs to be refined to be able to catch the reader's attention.
