I've read countless zombie fictions, seen the same horrific tales unfold before my eyes countless times. However, this one is something different, a truly intriguing side of the story. While the style is lacklustre, extremely rough on the edges and sometimes truly unique. The humanity of Thane, pacing, action sequences and military blend all prove fantastic. The combat, style, procedures, and everything are written to perfection. In some segments, one can observe beautiful imagery and the author does a fantastic job of bringing Thane's character to life. By the end of the days before we get to feel for him, truly understand him and a world is built before us.
In terms of grammar, the fiction is good, some segments are a little hazy but overall it seems quite professional. The diction and word choice fits well with the tale and provides some humorous elements. This segment does need help, however, but it is minor and does not affect readability.
Character: Thane, Doc, Kelly, all the characters portrayed throughout the tale, are incredibly human, well thought out and described. We get a key insight into their emotional standpoints, and views and are able to fully appreciate the horrors and suffering they represent. This is in my opinion the strongest point of the story. The characters are extremely well-developed. The author does a fantastic job of bringing them to life.
Style: Honestly the style is interesting, the pacing is good, and word choice fits the participants and setting, however, some aspects are a little cliche, others confusing and in general leaves you with the feeling of a gourmet dish cooked out of discarded trash. It's bad and good at the exact same time if that makes sense. I know it's bad yet it still is enthralling and has me wanting for more development and to truly see Thane's tale. As such to say it plainly it's unorthodox but it works. Some dialogue segments (things one person says) are incredibly large, but they need to be large to convey the

While I tend to read mostly High or Epic Fantasy, this was a really enjoyable change of pace. The story throws you right into the action right off the bat. If you enjoy a good zombie movie then this is right up your alley.
My only criticisms are actually with the blurb. Now I suck at these myself but I think it could do with a revision to help pull the reader in to give the story a chance.

I'll admit that it was a little bit rough to get into at first, but once that passed there was a great story. You'll find real, geniuine characthers in this story. There's the person they are on the outside, and then what they feel on the inside, and it's potrayed in a brilliant way.
The story starts off with a squad hving to fight against what effectively is zombies. It's an enemy they've never fought against, and what makes things worse, they don't have all the information on what the army is doing to deal with them.
All in all, I recommend it.

    Overall
An interesting character study on the psyche of soldiers dealing with a zombie outbreak in a time of global crises. Overall Thane’s war, despite being put on the background of some sort of zombie outbreak in the continental US, is more about the eponymous hero of our tale and his struggles to work through what has happened to him, and what is happening to him. Aided in this tale by a rogues gallery of tough manly-men US soldiers, the likes of which haven’t been seen since Gears of War, and you have yourself a dark alt-history tale of the trials and tribulations of military brotherhood. If you like war stories, psychological deep dives, and rich characterization then definetly check this one out.
    Characters
The characters were the true stars of the show in this story. Our hero, Jason Thane, a no bullshit, cares about his men, leader looks after his time in an active warzone where he feels way out of his league. Watching as he handles his team, uplifts his soldiers, and keeps moral high during a tough situation all while dealing with his inner demons is one of the best delights of the story. This, of course, is only second to the delight of the side characters. From the ever-spanish-cursing Gomez and his desperate struggle to open things that are locked, to the doc who is dealing with limited supplies in a warzone and his desperate need to save his men. Or Jackson who has fought beside him in Tehran. Each character feels dynamic, interesting, and grounded. All with their own stories and struggles. 5/5 easily for characterization.
    Story
The story intrigues me. Despite it being a conciet of the genre, I do love a good military story told through flashbacks as action unfolds in the present. The looming question of how the zombie plague got started, with small hints at how Thane himself might be connected through a former lover, and small military conspiracy. Still, the plot is light and tends to spend more time focusing on the characters wrapped up in it, and I m
