- potatogoddessRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm glad I gave this story a shot. It honestly took much longer than expected to actually get to the isekai part but I genuinely appreciated the effort put into fleshing out the MC's former life and how much it goes on to inform their future thoughts and actions.
Its still a bit early to judge the plot but so far I believe its being handled well. This is especially true for the characters with the MC being the best so far. The grammar is pretty much on point. Only ran into one minor typo so its going strong.
Overall I think the story is doing the isekai and genderbender tags justice so I'm on board.
Now for minor spoilers, mostly concerning the tone:
As previously stated, the prologue which concerns the MC's life is quite lengthy and honestly pretty depressing. The story didn't click with me initially because of how much I just wanted to jump into the isekai but I'd argue some of the best story moments so far take place in that section. The MC's actions and thoughts during that section of the plot felt pretty damn real so that's quite the plus in my book.
After the isekai the tone shifted to a much more positive vibe which was welcome but the MC's internal struggles still exist and that's probably the biggest hook for me so far.
Give the story a try. - DebmalyaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a gem... The writing is way too realistic. And we humans read novels to escape from reality. Well this one does not feel like a novel at all. It feels kind of like a autobiography... But for most people- this is not the story they are looking for... It really portrays what used to happen while gender inequality was a thing... Thank you for being a great teacher. It is worth the try.
- Gear1483Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0this is just what i am looking for. something like a seinen isekai. The characters are good, the plot is going smoothly. The magic system is not generic. Has no cliche or stereotypical thing.
just what i was looking for. Cant wait for more. And the review needs at least 50 words. hope this much is enough - Normal7615Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The grammar is good, the main characters story is also very entertaining. Seems like the book will be a bit dark and that is right up my alley. Hope that the author wont go on a hiatus as other authors usually do. The worldbuilding has potential and the little we have seen promises that
- ShamikoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Searching for a wholesome, fluffy story? If so, this story might not be what you're looking for. What about a story that takes place in medieval times, with its ups and downs, interesting worldbuilding, and the story of a strong, witty, and sometimes (rarely really) childish MC? In that case, reading this story is a must.
Now, onto the technicalities:
Style is excellent. The imagery, wording, and narration is impeccable. Descriptions are so great that imagining what's being explained doesn't feel like a chore, but a delight! Words do not feel repetitive; synonyms are used when needed. Lastly, the narration is very smooth and never feels repetitious.
What about grammar? Grammar is also very well done! So far I've only found one grammatical mistake that ruined the immersion for me. I haven't noticed any other glaring errors, and as a result, grammar hasn't neglected my reading experience at all.
The story seems promising as well. So far, not a lot has happened, however, it's still a superb read. Personally, the story hasn't been boring at all even though the beginning is slow. And by slow I mean snail-level (hopefully this metaphor makes sense) slow. After chapter 10 the story starts to pick up the pace so don't let the beginning scare you away.
Finally, the characters. All of them feel like real people. Not a single one feels 2D. Every character has their quirks and personalities. At times each character's dialect is different, and even if it isn't, knowing who's speaking is always very clear. Only reason I removed half a star is that, in my opinion, MC's personality can sometimes be slightly inconsistent. At least that's the impression Felix/Scarlet has given me.
So to wrap this up, reading this story has been a treat, and would definitely recommend!
EDIT: Guys, if you're looking for a generic isekai TURN AWAY. This story has a LOT of dark moments too, so if you can't handle that, LEAVE. However, if you do want to read something that is original, and can handle the - Tyger01Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an amazing story absolutely love it. Well written and thought out. Every arc has a plan that leds seamlessly into the next arc. Many people might skip the first few chapters but I believe that they truly set the foundation of the story and are worth reading. It shows that the author is willing to make things dark and difficult for the characters and that it doesn't always work out for the best. As the arcs go on the story just keeps getting better. There are never moments where the story fills only moments where characters make actions you don't want them to make.
Warning, the characters are too well written for you not to love with all your heart or hate with a fire that burns forever
but then why... the author didn't set Scarlet (the mc) free instead trapping her even more. He could have, made her life easier and happier.Stupid arranged marriage Makes me mad, I couldn't sleep last night thinking about this story and how angry I was about it Why, why, why find a better way to escape it aaaahhhhh why
Truly a well written masterpiece that even when I hate what's happening I'm dragged in by my love of the characters. - WhatthejugRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Such an amazing story, really pulls you in and makes it feel like this is something the author has genuinely experienced. Its dark tone is handled really well and not like some edgy cliché power fantasy. I genuinely forgot this was a draft story, and I'm a little sad the final version won't be as dark but I'm still really excited to read it.
- jesse OnugboluRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’ve been with this book for a while now. And all I have to say is it’s great. It’s often uncomfortable, partially messy, unnecessary emotional dumps sometimes that stalls an interesting plot point.
a male character turned female that actually explores all that in depth, amazing world building, gay characters that aren’t bad or base their entire personality on whether or not “They eat or they suck”
I love it. It is genuinely imperfect, it’s interestingly uncomfortable. And the characters are all mostly ok. But this story is about the mc. And she slaps.
I don’t know if I’ll prefer that other one. But I’ll have no doubt this one touched me the most. No matter what 10/10 - AethuriaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An excellent novel with a compelling story and enticing characters.
I would 10/10 recommend giving it a shot, even if you don't think it's your particular cup of tea. It may end up surprising you.
There is a lot of focus on character depth and development in this story, with plenty of opportunities for more in the future; some characters fulfilling or betraying expectations, and others going in entirely different directions. Similarly, some new characters seem more as if they are already very fleshed out and the reader is discovering more about them with each interaction, rather than being presented with new facts about their person. It's a slightly more subtle approach than I think most would take, but I have found it deeply enjoyable; my current favourite character for example I initially disliked but grew to appreciate more over the course of a few chapters of interaction and a single POV chapter.
The story progresses at a steady pace with a focus on the MC's life and challanges, with a little intrigue thrown in on occasion and with what I hope is hints at where the story will be progressing to in the future. That is to say i'm very excited to see where this leads. One issue some may have with this however is that it is slow, I enjoy the pace, always have been fonder of novels that delve deep into the story and conversations and don't try and jump to the action, but I can see how some may find it frustrating to see the main character stuck in one place as she is.
I think 5 stars in Grammar is well deserved here; the chapters flow well and I have not so much as even thought a word has been used too soon after it has already been used, using words too often can after all make them feel over used.
The only complaint I have about the style is how more recent chapters are divided into segments, but even then it's not so much a complaint about the chapters, but the style in which they are split. Each Ch.x is written as a single chapter and divided for RRL's benefit, ev - malinizgeldiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's like this book was created for ignorant people who love "harem" to read. Imagine being reincarnated as a woman, as a man, into the medieval world, where the rights that were only given to women in the last hundred years or so. I'm already nauseous. empathy is one of my strengths and I can very well imagine Scarlet's situation. It is a very, very difficult life to live such a life. but imagine what if it was worse? this is the return to our reality. If you look back 100 years, you will see how difficult conditions women have been living under. Ask yourself, "What would I do if it were me?" You probably wouldn't be able to do anything. but it can come with your current heli. treat women with respect and respect their rights. Also, don't read the goddamn harem novels.
