- F.L. RileyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not sure what Goblins did to always wind up the bad guy, maybe they suffer from a Napoleonic complex. But there are other short races that manage to work well with each other. I guess if you are short, green, and have the greed of a dragon, that might sway your moral outlook.
This is a System Apocolypse novel, one very well done. The author knows how to tell a story, and has a way with conversations that give enough personalities to each character that it doesn't seem one-dimensional.
Give this a try; I think you'll enjoy it. - KashRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I went to amazon to buy your book but it's not available for purchase??

............................ - LordamnesiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is one of the best Apocalypse System stories I've read all year. Shitty starting zone with an MC who is a real relatable person who has failed to make it big all his life, and is finally able to make something of himself. I love the fact that the MC doesn't make the right choices all the time, and has to make suboptimal choices just to survive. Can't wait to see where this goes next!
- VioletMoonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So, this is a pretty fun read. Starting right out the gate you have a beat up hockey guy trying to find himself in the wilderness via challenging himself before a huge mana surge fucks everything up. Okay, I'm on board.
Style: This was where this story got hurt the most. It just feels flat. I'm never a huge fan of present tense writing, and this story is a good example of why. I just didn't feel any... omph? Like, the internal monologue we get just feels dead pan, and even when the MC is supposed to be panicking it felt like he may as well have been describing a grocery list, or doing some laundry at home. I think this is mostly because it needs more vivid expressions and punctuation. Don't be afraid to use exclamation points or other tools to convey the gravity of situations.
Grammar: I really didn't notice many issues, so 5/5.
Story: I like character growth, and it was nice to see a struggling older MC instead of some peppy youth that was overpowered. I found the descriptions to be rich and compelling, and I was excited to see more of the story. The lit-rpg aspects were integrated relatively well. Gotta love boxes. The nice thing about story elements in this genre is that you don't really need any right out of the gate for it to still be interesting. Surviving an apocalypse is almost default interesting.
Character: 5/5. I'm team Bronwic. He seems like a bloke I could get a beer with and reminisce about all the crazy days from the past. Down to earth, with a nice heaping dose of harsh reality. Nicely done, sir.
In summary, I hope this finds and audience and joins the massive ranks of lit-rpg. I think it would benefit the author to give his earlier chapters a closer look through to see where he can spice things up a bit more to get the audience invested in the sheer gravity of the situation. Best of luck, sir. - felixrr6299Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I've binged the first 15 chapters and need to say lm impressed. I haven't seen any grammar mistakes but that's not why I read a story anyway. A grown man mc, with a more realistic life experience entering a apocalypse. The mc has issues but also thinks things thru . So give this story a try. I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised.
- RocksNPebblesRoyal Road★★★ 3.0A good start, but then it goes off the rails quickly. MC can tank hits from a level 95 when at level 5. Can take down level 32 monsters with ease. He gets skills randomly that are never mentioned again, overall a very sloppy system with totally random elements.
It is rule of cool and isn’t a hard system with gamelit quests, game damage mechanics, and massive massive stupidly op skills unearned and given very early on. Why use a sword or a polearm when you can bash things with a hokey stick?
A dark and gritty start with elements of magical realism, seeming like it’d go in the direction of the first defier’s defiance of the fall. But it isn’t like that and the power ramps up way too fast.
