- Dahood77Royal Road★★★★ 4.0So far i've read all chapters, it was pretty slow to start at first because of all the details given about everything. It can be seen both in a good way and in a bad way, a lot of informations is given so it's slow to developp and it may discourage the readers because of that, so I gave it a second chance and I've read the other chapters untill chapter 9 so far, I did the right choice and now i'm waiting for the next chapters
I hope we'll get to see more about those blood sorcerers he mentionned in the first chapters. The story is well described even though sometimes it's a bit too much but it gives an idea of what the world looks like so in a way why not. Characters are well described as well even though we don't know much about what their contribution to the story will be yet, I guess I'll have to wait for more chapters to see that, especially why does orion's mom (forgot her name) keep secrets from him when we readers already know from chapter 1 who's his father, it's frustating damn
I just hope the author will find a balance between too much details and not enough details but it's pretty good so far - burningGroundRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The initial intro feels like "a fairytale for children" narrated in a plural first person.
The way the author describes everything feels incredibly impersonal and annoyingly descriptive and flowery, even when there's dialogues.
I really do not like the way the author ended the chapter e.g. "[...] setting the stage for the remarkable journey that awaited her son, Squardza."
It feels like very disconnected and not engaging, like a screenplay... (granted, I've only went through 2 chapters) Yes it's beautifully poetic, but I checked the tag and it's apparently an [action] series, not an emotionally deeply woven romance series with beautiful, picturesque qualities SoL...
These traits are very remniscient of how ChatGPT end chapters (which in this case the author did not put up the content warning to if they used ChatGPT---which would not affect my rating regardless), because this is an extremely off-putting way imo to end a chapter to a serial. (ChatGPT's style of writing stories tend to be extremely suitable for ending of a trailer/preview/one-shots, but it would often fail to engage the reader to pursue the next chapter). There's just no hook or cliffhanger. It feels incredibly summarized and tensionless. (And I do enjoy ChatGPT-generated stories, so this is a shame...)
