Tales of the Old World Demon Lord

Description
1984 had indeed come, however it was 100 years late.In 2084 a man named [Sovereign] had taken control of the entire globe and the destiny of Humanity itself was in his hands. Many called him evil, perhaps he was, but Sovereign believed that he was cultivating the future of humanity; he knew that if Humanity continued on its current trajectory it would not last. However his plans came to an abrupt end when he was tragically murdered by his closest confidante. For a time after that the world finally found peace as their evil overlord had been overthrown but as Sovereign had predicted the world indeed came to an end. Humanity had returned to its old ways, they reconstructed borders, created separations known as 'countries' and in the end without unification and a single future, war had once again engulfed the world.Slowly as it choked on its own ineptitude the humans killed themselves off as their resources depleted and the planet was made uninhabitable. However this was not the end of the story for Sovereign, but a new beginning. Born again in a world of swords and sorcery he quietly evaluates the mettle of these new humans. Should they not come to meet his standards then 'Sovereign' would also be reborn."To the primitive fools who believe magic reigns supreme, allow me to demonstrate the might of the old world technology."Arc 1: Kenesis Enhancement Project/SovereignArc 2: Human Immortalization Project/NemesisArc 3: The Skyfall Project/Gungnir

- LoneWanderer23Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Sovereign shall rule the Earth again!
But seriously, that would be awesome.
Eagerly awaiting new chapters.
Also good job with the German, as a fellow German speaker :D - BrandRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0MORGANT I LOVE YOU! (Though I really wanted to see how he kicked Nodens ass into outer space in the other versions, this one is good too.)
I gotta say, I am impressed, no impressed won’t do it. I am amazed, exhasperated, astonished, breaking into tears, all of it combined! How long have I waited for the original to continue, then you rewrote it and stopped before they both reached the same point, shortly after the school arc and the spider queen and the yellow king and whatnot; I can’t even remember anymore. You know how it truly saddened me?!
It was just so amazing with all the references of the Great Olds from H. P. Lovecraft. Even the grimmoire was in there ffs. I loved it all so much and right now it is as good as ever. Rather, I would be satisfied as long as you keep this series going at all! XD
Style, brilliant.
Story, this one is unique. Some *ahem* idiots *ahem* really have the audacity to think that this is some kind of ‘new’ fiction with a nice retake of the reincarnation theme. OH MY GOD! This is THE fiction you morons! With THE I don’t mean ‘the original reincarnation fiction’ but THE reincarnation styled fiction that puts any other to shame. You guys know nothing, you are not long enough on this site it seems….
I want to see Nodens dead btw, or at least don’t make him a family killing bastard, well he can’t do that anymore since Morgant is an orphan now. Teehee, I forgot. Another thing… Why Astaroth? Why not Lina? I could never wrap my mind around why Morgant felt like that for Astaroth. Even Arachnee, the spider queen, was a better choice. She had the hots for him, be honest man.
Welp this here ^ should fall under characters but I am just so overwhelmed that this story continues that I don’t even care about this review anymore. I would give you all the stars of the nightsky -*cough* nohomo *cough*- just so that your fiction gets the attention it deserves.
Grammar, perfect, let’s face it.
Characters, come on man…. only five stars ain’t enough. If the ch - SquirrelkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style : The flow of this story is slightly jarring near the begining, with little information given and large; bold and meta terms thrown around. Once the story slows down this is solved and the the overall style of the story shines true.
Story : A unique take on a cliche genre, the world is built well with emotion and solid foundation.
Grammar : Apart from minor errors the fiction has good writing, a few times I've seen words that looked they got spellchecked incorrectly.
Character : The main character is enthralling and generally fun to observe, the world revolves around the MC and in doing so creates sub-MC's.
Overall : Far better than most fictions on this site, little to no faults and generally well above average for it's genre. - Pen PalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a good story, but there could definately be more character development and background. e.g. HOW did Sovereign come to power? HOW did society fall after his passing? Are there any other repositories of knowledge left? If so, were they discovered? There's a lot of play left in this story and I hope that you continue to let it out.
- AnownRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I hope my investment worth it. Waiting for more chap :P
- XodarapRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I always like the reincarnated demonlord series genre so this is a welcome addition that isn't too childish
- GrargRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story is decently well written but seems over-reliant on vague explanations to justify plot points (spoilers up to chp. 25):
1. We never fully understand why Sovereign wanted to rule Earth in the first place. The author kind of hand-waves the explanation with vague phrases like "ensuring mankind's future", "protecting the people from themselves", and "pushing human evolution." All I see so far, at least, is a megalomaniac who simply wanted to control everything.
2. Morgant is, at the moment, still different from Sovereign. We never really understand his motivations for doing what he's doing. He's a 7 year old kid who suddenly accepts his role as some sort of overseer, once against justified with vague explanations like "inheriting Sovereign's will" and "accepting his destiny." At one point, he even states that he just "wanted power". The author really needs to do a better job of explaining character motivations because so far it just seems like he's doing what he's doing because the plot demands it.
3. The origin of magic and Morgant's new RPG-like abilities are also not well explained. The origin of magic in this world is described as a warping of Sovereigns "previous efforts" but it isn't explained what exactly happened. All we get is a vague explanation that the push for psychokinesis somehow morphed into magic for everyone in the world. Also, I did not like how Morgant's new status screen and ability cheats suddenly materialized. It takes away from the realism of the story and just felt like the author shoehorned them in to make storytelling convenient. - mysticfauxRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0What did I like about this story?
The grammar and style were on point, to the point that I never noticed any errors (If there were any).
I love the premise of the story, about a man who was a sovereign of the past, going into the future.
What did I not like? (Spoilers ahead)
The fact that Morgan Fallon doesn't seem to have a real motive in conquering the world, in the present and in the past, other than the vague "For the future of humanity"
The fact that he considered other races "Inhuman" and begin only accepting of them when they 'display' sentient traits? Are those not just Sentient Humanoid traits? It really makes me question how he was able to become so powerful in the past.
The fact that his 'reincarnation', or the one who inherited his memory, accepted everything like a cocaine addict to his cocaine. It was as if he was waiting for it his whole life.
The Fact that he still acts like a kid, even after inheriting the memories by disregarding others around him and only acting when they are in mortal danger.
Finally, the fact that he entirely disregards magic for his 'Technology', I ask this, if magic is a mutation of his 'technology', Then is it not also technology? It feels like such a waste of potential, It's like disregarding bacteria powered inventions because they are not pure 'technology'
PS - If it seems I have more complaints than Pros Than it's because it's way more easier to remember complaints about a story than it's pros. I must say I enjoyed the story, but, to me, the main character just feels like a dictator who tries to justify himself with hypocrisy. - KandoralRoyal Road★★★ 2.5It is a good story, but sadly because of all the talking done (yes there is almost only talking!) the story gets boring pretty fast.... A story that has only explanations and no progression makes the reader lose interest like it is in this case.
90% of chapters consists of explanation to others (and believe me, it is annoying af)
