- chris#1SupermanClarkkentfanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0After reading the first few chapters of “AshBorn Dragonheart” I pondered what I was going to say about it. The book is a reincarnation isekai story with numerous familiar fantasy elements. The first thing I would like to say is that the author uses the recognizable tropes extremely well, allowing them to not feel formulaic. Furthermore, the writer adds a strong slice-of-life comedic twist to it that further separates it from similar works. This was especially true for the first chapter of the book. It provided a strong emotional hook, having an excellent depiction of the resilience of the human spirit in the face of a great evil and ending in a genuinely funny and action packed manner.
This brings me to the lead character. In the first chapter the protagonist Ash, a young boy, makes a very well done heroic entrance, saving an innocent soldier who had a pregnant wife from a monster known as the demon king. His introduction was immensely strong, showcasing the author’s ability to juggle both a serious and silly tone without it coming off as jarring. However, in the proceeding chapter they introduced a twist that revealed Ash was a reincarnated old man. I personally found the chapter to be fairly off-putting , taking away a lot of the energy the beginning inspired. Fortunately, the chapters afterward were consistently much better as they went through Ash’s reincarnation process.
The story starts properly as Ash begins life again as a baby, the first born son, to his loving parents. The father and mother both hail from high class fantasy races, nobility, marking the boy as extremely special and partially explaining his entrance in the first chapter. We follow him as the years go by, growing up and eventually getting a younger sister. Still, the thing I found most interesting about the chapters I read was the slice-of-life antics of the new family, especially between Ash and his father. The two were extremely wholesome, providing a strong comedic duo with the mother bein - AlexanderScottRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What a cool start to the story—Tales of the DragonHeart is a joy to read.
Ash is a unique character who starts off an elderly man—then he saves a child from getting hit by a truck (and gets hit himself)—and finds himself talking to a deity who helps him to be reborn into a new magical world, as an infant. The parts where the baby finds himself flying around being chased by his family's (his new reincarnated family) servant's are hilarious and fun.
The writing is solid and the concept are exciting to read. I love your cover design too. Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next! - AstraldudeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is just peak comedy, I mean this book has to get published SERIOUSLY. I'm already relatable to Ashborn as a baby and he is so adorable as a baby! And the comedy is just 10/10, love the fact that the father disappears after realizing that the mother was not playing around!
- Nice person777Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0So yeah! I really love the novel. It's really well written. Specially the world building, I can see that there was a lot of detail given to it. The characters? I love them too! They all feel so nice any our MC Ashborn he is so funny and loveable too... I really recommend this novel
- AatonuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is simply great. I must say, the prologue hooked me so bad that I kept reading chapters after chapter. The story is really fast pace, though.
Generally I read stories with a lots of buildup but this story was not bad either. I like how the author delivered every chapter with quirky ending and kept me hooked. No no don't misunderstand, the ending of each chapter was quite satisfactory.
Now, If you don't want to get spoiled then stop reading right now.
The prologue started with an injured old man, I thought, OK he is the protagonist and either he is going to die or he is going to defeat everyone, but instead he got saved by a little boy.
The boy was our real protagonist, I wasn't expecting it.
Within a second he overwhelmed every foe. You can guess what happened next.
Then finally the story started and guess what the legendary Truck-kun was there. Just like always he was there to run over a child. Here another old man was present and he saved the child with a great sacrifice obviously.
Then he got reincarnated but he didn't get any mission from the god. So after birth, he started causing trouble just like another kid... This is the story of a troublesome boy who is sparing no one in his way ... And this story is very hilarious. It is was fun to read, and I enjoyed it a lot. - BabyFlikRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Wow, "Tales of the Dragon Heart: AshBorn" is a wild ride from chapter one! If you're a fan of isekai and progression fantasy, you'll feel right at home. It's got all the good stuff: a dude getting a second chance at life, cool magic, and a main character who's shaping up to be seriously powerful.
I love how fast this story moves. There's no boring stuff, it just jumps right into building this awesome world with dragons, elves, and demons. The best part, though, has to be the main character's family. Ashborn's dad is the strongest guy on the continent, but he's also a total jokester who loves messing with people. His mom is this super powerful and beautiful high elf who has to keep her husband in line. Their family vibe is just so fun and wholesome; it's a great break from all the epic-level action.
One thing to note is that things happen fast. Ashborn becomes a prodigy at record speed, mastering skills that take others years. It's super fun to watch, but sometimes I wished we could slow down a little and savor his training moments. Also, the story says his old memories are sealed so he's mentally a kid , but he pulls off some seriously big-brain moves that feel more like his old genius self. A little more clarity on how his kid-brain/genius-past works would be cool.
Honestly, these first 10 chapters are a fantastic start. The prologue gives you this awesome sneak peek of how insanely cool Ashborn is going to be in the future , and there’s this mystery girl with silver hair who keeps popping up that I can't wait to learn more about . If you want a story that's all gas and no brakes, with an OP main character you can't help but root for, definitely give this a read. I'm totally hooked and looking forward to continue reading! - Eva_EverquillRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and it definitely made me chuckle, which is why I’m giving it extra points! The humor was well-placed, lightening the mood in such a fun way. The chapters were consistently engaging and entertaining, even if they were a bit shorter than usual. Despite the brevity, the pacing kept me hooked, and I found myself eagerly reading on. The main character is incredibly endearing, and I quickly became invested in his journey. His personality really shines through, making it easy to root for him.
The world-building was captivating, creating a fascinating, different world that was immersive and full of potential. A world with many moons intrigued me, and I can't wait to see more. There were other interesting characters that seemed to fly by without much exploration, and I hope as the story develops, we’ll get to know them better and dive deeper into their unique traits.
In terms of technical aspects, there were a few minor hiccups, but they didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment.
Overall, this book was a great read—fun, light-hearted, with a perfect balance of humor and plot. It’s definitely a good pick-me-up story. I’m looking forward to how the story unfolds! - KogitoErgoSumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Tales of the Dragon Heart: AshBorn is a fun LitRPG with manhwa-style energy. It hits all the genre beats: reincarnation setup, system awakening, and big arena fights against flashy monsters. It’s fast, light, and easy to read, which makes it a great pick if you want something engaging without being weighed down by walls of exposition.
Style Score: 5/5
The style is cute and accessible. It feels like the kind of story a younger audience or newer readers could really jump into and enjoy. For me, it was a little on the simple side — I’d love more descriptive layering or sensory detail to deepen the immersion. The biggest area to improve is paragraph construction. Many sections are written as very short or one-sentence paragraphs, which keeps the pace quick but can also feel choppy. Combining some of those into fuller paragraphs would give the fights more rhythm and make dramatic moments land harder.
Story Score: 4.5/5
The wyvern fight was classic LitRPG hype and nailed that “system awakening” excitement. The story moves quickly and wastes no time showing AshBorn’s growth. That momentum works, but I’d love to see a few slower beats between the big fights — moments of reflection or worldbuilding that add emotional depth before the next burst of action.
Character Score: 5/5
AshBorn is an adorable protagonist, caught between innocence and the instincts of his dragon blood. Gray and Amaya add humor and weight, while Feronia’s presence hints at future tension. The characters are distinct and fun, and it’s easy to root for them.
Grammar Score: 4/5
There are some grammar and punctuation slips, especially in dialogue, but they’re minor and easy to fix. A quick pass with an editor would make the prose much smoother.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, this is a fun, fast read with a lot of heart. With more depth in prose and stronger paragraph flow, it could really shine even brighter. - Ayela ArcanaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The author drew me in with the humorous opening summary, and kept my attention through every single chapter with funny line after funny line.
I admit that I don’t often open LitRPGs because they’re so often loaded with complicated, crunchy rules and things to remember. You won’t find that in Tales of The Dragon Heart. Yes, there’s some system messages and leveling up, but they are not the main focus of the chapters.
No, the main focus is the humorous escapades of Ashborn, and he has an awesome backstory that I won’t give away here because you just need to go read Chapter 1.
This book is unique, hilarious, and engaging. The author has a distinctively funny voice and is a delight to read.
I did have to take off a star for Grammar. I wish I didn’t have to do that, but I must be honest. It’s nothing that can’t be easily fixed: just punctuation here and there. Don’t let that keep you from reading this book.
If you are looking for something to keep you laughing at the end of a hard day or if you want a lunch-break pick me up, open this book! You won’t be disappointed. - Shadows of fantasyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The start is good, it really builds you up for the rest of the story, and i love how the boy is introduced. The desperation in his emotions at wanting to get home to his wife was a good point, making you more empathetic towards him and his motivation to get home.
