- Jim K.Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm officially and thoroughly addicted to this story. The premise is unique and fresh, the world is captivating, and the characters feel truly alive. The disturbing atmosphere created by the gruesome reality our protagonist brings about with her growth, the grim resolve displayed by the remaining knights trying to contain her spread, and the overwhelming feeling of tragedy permeating every page of this wonderful tale all combine to create an unforgettable experience.
The stylistic choices are all on-point. No word feels wasted, no sentence is out of place. The air of mystique and horror is constant and undisrupted, never faltering for even a second. Mesmerising from start to finish, this work always leaves me wishing for more.
The story so far has been a treat. I've greatly enjoyed reading about the ongoing journey of our fungal "goddess". It's very rare to see an author manage to pull off portraying a truly inhuman main character, and this is definitely one such occasion.
Regarding grammar, at the time of writing this review I haven't yet noticed any mistakes.
All of the characters so far had great introductions and it's apparent that much thought was put into writing each one of them. At first I hesitated to give another 5 stars for this subcategory, as they haven't had much time to develop yet, but I'm sure if I won't do it now I'll have to edit my review in just a few days anyway, haha!
Overall Tales of Tender Rust is a wonderful story that I'll be sure to recommend to everyone willing to listen. I wish you good luck, o great author, and may the algorithm favour you. - kubor04Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writing of this is simply beautiful--the narration is filled with flowery language which flows together immensely well, and yet every sentence and word included still feels relevant to the story and isn't just flowery language for the sake of it. I'm very enamored by how eloquently written the chapters are and it feels very unique compared to most things I've read before.
I'm having a phenomenal time reading this so far and can see it blossoming into a very intriguing story, as the central mystery and plot are simultaneously presented in a very simple and easy to understand way but feels like it has a very deep effect on what will happen and all of the characters. An infection as such is a fairly novel idea but the way it is being handled in this story and the position that the central character holds in relation to this isn't one I've seen often before.
The characters themselves are fairly unique, with clear set out motivations and feel like they have big individual goals which will obviously conflict with each other; I foresee plenty of great storytelling from this is the future. They are not the most developed as of yet but that is to be expected from the limited number of chapters released as of this point.
I'd definitely encourage others to give this one a go, its a fantastic read.
