To be honest, this story has a lot of potential and seems very interesting so far. I gave it a straight five stars because I defintely want to see where it goes and how everything works out.
The style is great and the story is intriguing so far but there are a few moments where the story doesn't flow as well and the dialogue seems a little strange. There are some interactions that don't make much sense like the ones with Klayden (they let him eat even though he didn't do anything). I also hope maybe an explanation on elves might occur soon and explained the way the history with witches was.
Character score is kinda low because although Zarek seems like an interesting MC I could get invested in, his interactions with the other characters seem strange, especially that fight with Shael and the easy way he forgave her for being a jerk. I'm sure as character development occurs as the story goes on, this score will increase but for now I have it at 3 1/2.
I personally am a huge fan of fantasy and the world and the characters have a lot of potential so I definitely want to see what direction this goes in.
Other than that definitely a fun story and hope you write a ton more soon!

This is a well written, gripping story that's fun and has got all the nice things you could want in an epic fantasy story. At first I thought the prologue was a touch long, but once I was into it I was carried away by the flow and I found myself enthralled by it. It sort of feels like an anime but with a lot more thought behind the story.
It also has interesting, real, believable characters, a lot of depth, history and worldbuilding, and some incredible fight scenes that I personally loved. None of the character interactions feel forced either.
I also really liked the names of the calendar months and maps that have been included.
The story also features a myriad of  different and complicated relationships the main character has with other characters. Particularly Shael who I think is pretty cool.
It is written incredibly well in the first person with an unwavering flair and gripping style that really makes it a joy to read.
The story itself is interesting and intriguing, and is shaping up to be an incredible tale.
The grammar and everything else is fine, nothing much to comment on. Certainly nothing that stuck out to me
Overall, this is a great piece of fiction and I look forward to reading more.

This is a fun training academy story reminiscient of Anthony Ryan and similar stories, though there's quite a more magic scattered about, and as you'd expect for that kind of story, it has a bit of a YA feel through the early parts.
The setting feels vaguely medieval with magical weaponry (cannons!), lords, ladies and generally feudal social structures. Our POV character is a noble scion who was born with the wrong blood, but who is nevertheless training to be a knight.
The story starts slow, but picks up once he leaves home, where we get to see his training in quite a bit of detail, and then the situation escalates from there.
The magic system has some room for development, but it's nice to see it there from the start of the story.
There's a few cases of rough dialogue and descriptions that are a little vague or hard to follow, but generally the writing is decent with a good mix of description, action and dialogue. I didn't notice any significant errors.
Recommended for fans of Blood Song or the Book of the Ancestor.
