Tales of Demons and Dragons - An Apocalyptic Xianxia!
Community Rating
Description
One or more chapters per day
Directly Inspired by Tales of Demons and Gods, with an Italian (European) spin and magic on top of cultivation.
Mix of light comedy and very dark parts. Darker chapters are marked with a disclaimer.
The chapters will be polished later on. You may find typos and some weird sentences here and there - please do report it in the comments when that happens.
Synopsis:
Jacob reincarnates in his 15 years old body. It's just a few minutes before the Change that brought Demonic Beasts swarming all over Earth. In a matter of hours, all the big Capital Cities are razed to the ground. Dragons invaded Rome; Hydras assaulted Venice. Even nastier monsters lurk in the dark. Sadly, his talent is abysmal, and virtually everyone is stronger than him. And he knows that Demonic Beasts are not his only concern, for humans can be far more malevolent at times.
St. Peter, Jacob's small mountain hometown in Abruzzo, houses only a few hundred. And since bigger monsters appear in more populated cities, they are relatively safe, or so he thought. But, he soon realizes that even if he went back in time, not everything is the same. And one thing is for sure:heis not the same. His soulmate is now in front of him once again, but things are different. Maybe too different.
Follow Jacob in his struggles to protect everyone, change his talent, acquire strength, confront lost loves, and maybe meet new ones. This reincarnation story shows that people who can go back to their past may not be as successful as they thought.
I will write no harem in this story. The protagonistmaybe involved with more than one girl, but not every female will fall at his feet.

- Tiban DorelRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well done author, TODAG is only the baseline for the beginning of the story, and you made your own plot and a very interesting one at that. You avoided some main cliches in the beginning, which made me stick to the story (along with the writing style!) Characters feel like normal people faced with an apocalypse, neither utterly dumb ones nor too calm. Kids are kids. That's great.
Characters feel a bit abnormaly op at the chapter I reached, but you did say there would be explanations later on, so I'll be reading onwards.
Continue to surprise us, GO FOR IT MARVELOUS AUTHOR! - Pietro SimoneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is interesting, I'm Italian so it's biased rewiew ;) but I like human interactions that tends to be good, the mc as well is good but I hope he will also undergo a sort of development. Now the important part I think it will be how the story will change when approaching the wider world, Fowl needs some shit in his hat to bring consistency and normal pace to have a real taste of the story.
- nananananaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall it is very good as the spelling is okay the update speed is amazing while keeping good quality and despite low commenting rate the author keeps uploading rapidly so overall amazing! But some advice I would give is to stop uploading so rapidly make a stockpile of chapters to rely on and slow down so you don't get burned out
- catbearpenguinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good read, fun hearty romp through a cultivation and magic universe, reset is well managed and the author has really thought about the impact of knowing the future has on the past. author also interacts and responds to comments.
Well worth a read , could do with a once over with a proofreader but nothing major - wrightlRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Really good story but very unpolished, a diamond in the rough so to say. There are several false red flags that seem like the story going in a bad direction or being stupid, but then later we realize that things are more realistic than the surface shows, with better character development then seems plausible.
- RedgumRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0So _Fowl_ has clearly read Tales of Demons and Gods (one of my early favorites) and then got inspired to write something in a similar style, but with a modern apocalyptic European twist.
For the most part, its pretty successful and makes for an entertaining read, where the MC has OP reincarnator knowledge but remains on par with his peers due to his very frail and sickly original body.
The MC does have a few odd reactions to things , but I suppose that returning to a sickly hormonal teenage body surrounded by very alpha teen characters might cause some internal confusion
Things I would recommend for an edit would include a grammar review, breaking up the first day into several days (too many things happen to fit into that space of time) and maybe expanding on the dialogue a little. There is also much emphasis placed on the MC being injured by pushing himself beyond his limits to do OP stuff, yet he never seems held back by that, so more time to heal plz. Also the chapters are really short.
I do like the character evolution, particularly the butterfly effect he has on assumed allies and enemies, with a nice switcharoonie in there.
Overall, this novel has a lot of promise and with a little editing could go a long way. Worth a read. - ScarecroRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Fun concept. But the characters are inconsistent with their back stories to the point that it's immersion breaking. I'm over 50 chapters in and the main character gets more unrealistic and idiotic each chapter, and i still can't find a single character i like that didn't get horribly ruined. Some spelling and grammar check would be good especially for the first few chapters, but that doesn't matter to me, since an engaging story will shine through regardless.
Definitely not coming back to finish this one - naralianRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5It's fine.
The premise is fairly stock; hero goes back in time to prevent a disaster but loses most of his immediate power in the process. Because you know and I know what site we're on, the disaster in question is of course the obligatory bland system apocalypse.
The execution of the premise is good, though: instead of being a cunning master time traveler, our boy only learned the reset by way of being a huge nerd who basically ONLY knows time magic and swords, so even before the butterfly effect comes for him he's consistently written as not really able to take advantage of things a normal person would.
My favorite part of this story by far is the mechanics of the time travel, unusually: the butterfly effect absolutely hates this guy and immediately comes for him guns blazing, and having a time travel protagonist constantly confused, on the defensive, and genuinely struggling is a rare and fun thing. It's absolutely vicious and I love it.
The big weakness is the character writing, which is... very, very loose. People sometimes make decisions that make no sense (e.g. the protagonist hides his time travel but doesn't hide that he's using knowledge from the future for... reasons?) or out of character (attachments between characters are at "never let me go" levels in one chapter and "eh, i could take or leave him" the next). This would be fine in comedy writing or if the premise was something super original and compelling, but since this is a willfully and I presume intentionally generic setup the characters are what we need to carry it and they're not quite there.
You won't regret reading this one, it's fine; an editing pass or two from publishable even; it's just unlikely to stand out and stick with you. - tezlinRoyal Road★★ 2.0Feels pretty rushed, no real challenges for the MC. I like the story arc in general, but the specific characters and interactions are just to basic. The core of a story is here, but the characters aren't really very different in meaningful ways. I hope the author is able to continue writing and refining the style. I just can't stay along for the ride.
- JertiRoyal Road★ 1.0The story was decent, but I can't really recommend it to anyone, except if you like unfinished stories.
It's over 23 months since the last story update.
10 months after the announced rewrite
I don't think it's worth waiting for another update. Too bad, but I think we have here another forgotten story.
