- Silver GoldTwineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0OVERAL SCORE: 5 STARS
-style score: 5 stars
-The feeling this novel gives off is one of unfair circumstances/corruption, holding onto moral integrity, sharing bonds with others and gaining the power to overcome strife.
-The world is well thought out and put together.
-The writing describes the surroundings, actions, details and feelings incredibly well.
-The story does well to keep it's secrets to both us the audience and the characters in the story itself.
-story score: 4,5 stars
-The style of the novel, more specifically the pace at which it moves is incredibly well done.
-We see the character fight against odds that are not in his favor and enemies that by far overpower him in strength and how he has to overcome impossible odds which causes the mc to run himself ragged if he wants to survive.
-We see the corruption of the world and the unfairness that pesters it causing the mc no end of misery some cases of which he simply can't do anything against untill he grows stronger.
-We see a growth of power that is balanced in accordance to the world the mc lives in even if he does find himself in unique circumstances.
-A part i dislike about the story is how the mc seems to be the one and only person capable of using the void powers, more specifically the spells involved with them, i like the premises that the mc undergoes but i think the author could have gone differently about how he went with this,
Instead of essentially crippling the entire void populace the author could have limited the spells that the void mages could work with to really weak ones while keeping the flawed cultivating methods the same only allowing weak noble void mages to exist who cant become stronger due to the lack of void spirits essentially limiting them to tier 3 and below as they need pure crystals which also limits their growth
, instead the current circumstances have lead to what i feel is an overdone plot hook with an mc that is the only one true hero in the world who can access what is - ElektrikhitRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a lot better that people give it credit for. To be completely honest, the first 30-35 chapters are comparatively dry, but the story rapidly picks up from there. I really like the main character, and one thing that’s been really refreshing for me is that while the main character is strong, it’s not to an unreasonable level, most of the threats he faces are significantly stronger than him, resulting in a far more varied and interesting approach than the typical murderhobo methods you so often read about. Overall, the story is a refreshing change where there is an interesting power progression without it being a litrpg.
- ArqRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I would recommend you do as the title says.
The characters are well put together, they all have their interests and conflicts (all of which believable) and act accordingly to them. I would also say the same about the plot, nothing feels forced and you can tell what happens and why, quite easily. You can also feel the progression. You start weak and slowly grow stronger (it has cultivation elements which I personally dislike, but the author made it quite well done in my opinion).
There are of course a few mistakes as well. For one the grammar is sometimes funny and words can get switched up, but there are no major problems. Also sometimes I do not agree when we are told what works and why. Of course these can all be overlooked and they are not serious hangups, nothing is perfect, but for someone 1st works it is excellent.
Overall I would say it is certainly a worthy read not just a time killer. - JamielTheDivineRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I normally avoid writing reviews. I feel there are other far more articulate people out there that can do that. However, I felt compelled to review this story, because it is a hidden gem that deserves more attention.
The story is a Isekai reincarnation fantasy story. However, it quickly diverges from the more annoying tropes to focus on a multifaceted world and main character. This is Not a wish fulfillment, over powered, self insert story.
The MC is recognized for their maturity, but still has a more typical family life and interactions with adults. A Lot of the early years are time skipped so no endless super baby chapters.
The MCs powers are unique and versatile without being too overpowered. The MC struggles. The magic system involves a form of cultivation, but again avoids the more cliche tropes associated with cultivation. There is no excess navel gazing or endless boring meditation. The grows at a slow pace, but the author keeps it interesting without getting bogged down in excess details.
There are no academy or tournament arcs or romance. No arrogant young masters that hate the MC for no reason. There is prejudice against the MC, but it makes sense in world.
The story does need and editor to correct grammatical mistakes and obvious typos, but this are easy to overlook.
The story is slow, but I found the pacing to be good and it held my interest well.
Overall an underrated excellent Isekai. - MidoriRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like this. It has a lot going for it and if your read it I think you'll like it too. But, there is a couple things I would like to point out to the author.
1. If someone says that they are going to kill you and then they attempt to kill you as a normal person you should probably do something about that.
2. If something is a secret and you know that the group your trusting your secret to has been compromised maybe don't tell them the secret. Don't ignore the obvious tells and certainly don't trust the guy that everyone knows is oblivous and will tell anyone that asks. (this whole idea was a waste of the mc's time)
3.Our mc had to save up 100 mana, if you use mana it goes away so we must get to the 100 mark before we can use mana without waste. Maybe don't waste mana and also it seems like everything is out to prevent this story progression at all times including more very poor choices. It got solved but was very frustrating till it was.
Overall I like this and would read it again sometimes it was frustrating but even now knowing what i know i would still read it. I look forward to more. - FlamingFalconRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0All things considered it’s a decent novel. The world is fairly vivid, the worlds intrigue and history is fairly detailed and interesting. With plenty of opportunities for twists, turns and suspense. Also from what I can tell you can observe the author improve as you get further through the novel.
That said I think I have a personal clash with what I like in the style of novel than what this has. The first book is rather “heavy handed” idk how else to describe it. The antagonists/protagonists are very black/white and clear due to the presence of mind control making it extreme fanatics. Which make the minor conflicts between MC and his peers feel weaker (to me), since the motivation is well not the characters. Plus the ending of Book 1 feeling very artificially contrived and forceful with the aim of moving on scenery. And maybe some gripes with the typical issues in this genre surrounding mental states/interactions with children and as an adult child.
But these are stylistic issues. And this second book deals with a lot of these (seemingly so far) due to the change in atmosphere and location. Allowing the stronger parts of the novel to shine through.
It’s surprising to me how this novel has fairly low reader presence considering it’s quality and length and think people should certainly give it a try. I think it would suit a lot of people. - CrydenRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0In the end, I think I liked this story? But it was a tiring read. The MC, Ezekiel, never had a clean win. Not even once in the entire couple thousand pages is he not struggling. It's exhausting to read. Allies are essentially non existent. No one seems to be on his side, at least not for long. Life is horrifyingly cheap, especially for a reincarnator from earth, but that's never addressed. Violence, almost always in excessive amounts, is just about always the answer. I'm left feeling pretty empty and sad upon finishing this story, hence why I have mixed feelings. I feel the author should add some warning to the synopsis about how relentlessly negative Ezekial's life is in his new world. With that in mind, if borderline grimdark is your thing, I would recommend this story. Just be aware of what you're going into!
- Zayn al-AbidinRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Ezekiel is supposed to be an adult inside the body of a child but Ezekiel is acting like he is 8, a mama's boy and only time he acts as if he has experience of an adult is when he has to figure out magic.
And what was that fight between children, despite being 4 times their age, Ezekiel was provoking them to bully him and then played victim cuz he got hurt. And in that scene, it was supposed to be Aldor hating on Ezekiel cuz he is void mage but bcz of Ezekiel's provoking, he becomes furious and tries to kill him but right after 2 chapters, Aldor says he was just enacting church of light's wish. That's a plothole, if he had planned on killing Ezekiel right from the start then what was the point of fighting other children first? what was the point of showing he got enraged and tried to kill Ezekiel only after Ezekiel acted like he didn't care?
Although the storyline is unique and I wanted to read ahead but I don't think I can with mc like that. He is acting too childish, you should have written a magic fantasy which followed the child from the start and then Ezekiel's antics and character would have made sense but in Isekai, the main character is supposed to show his adult like behaviour right from the start, look at Supreme Magus, The Beginning After the End, Jobless Reincarnation, sure they hide it to some extent but we are able to read the inner thoughts and it shows how they are mature inside but are acting, while Ezekiel has become a child in both body and mind, like come on man. - DailyDoseRoyal Road★★ 1.5Style-wise, the story's pretty good. There's little hiccups here and there, but overall it's a pretty consistent narrative with a decent pacing.
The story has some common tropes, but they're well used, and the character doesn't feel like he's constantly protected by a plot armor. He's both moving forward and suffering setbacks. The main issue is that some core elements are not explained. It's left to the reader to deduce them (like how many steps are in a tier).
In general though, pretty solid.
As a little addendum; I love the chapter length.
Character-wise, nothing much to add. Everything goes well together, I'm not going to say it's exceptional, but it's definitely good.
Finally the grammar. This is by far the weak-point. There's two parts to the problem. Initially, a rewrite is needed for the fighting scenes. The verb tense changes. Instead of (this is a fictional example):
"Ezekiel dodged left, barely avoiding a hit".
Becomes: "Ezekiel dodges left, he barely avoids the hit."
The second one has to do with the forced down inclusive vocabulary as far as his spirit goes. The author decided to refer to the sword by the plural/neutral pronouns They/Them, and everything else that follows also being plural. This sometimes brings confusion when he is mixing both their perspective as you can't always be sure who "they" are.
It also breaks the flow of the story every time. Most of it could be fixed by replacing it by "it", which would be the neutral appropriate pronoun in this case, so not a major rework, but definitely breaks immersion.
