System Grudge Match: The First Round
Community Rating
Description
A strange god-like System takes over Earth and all of its inhabitants, wildly changing the world and setting in motion a path for people and newly mutated Mana Beasts to grow unbelievably strong by battling enemies and taking advantage of rare opportunities. Only, the System doesn't intend for beings to gain strength for the sake of it alone, that would be far too easy. Instead, after one month of its time on Earth, chosen inhabitants, picked for their strength, will be sent to be pitted against the beings under another, different System in charge of other worlds. The winner gets rewarded. The loser...has their planet mined and stripped for resources.
Enter our intrepid main character, a lost young man lacking purpose...until the System arrives and shoves that purpose down his throat, spurring him to grow to heights unimagined, all to defend his world.
Let the cosmic battle begin...

- rgreadsRoyal Road★★★ 3.0It's a great concept, but the execution needs some work.
Aimless neckbeard gets caught in System Apocalypse, initially flees with all the other helpless and quickly killed off bystanders, gets motivated, becomes powerful. Standard escapist wish fulfillment stuff. But preparing to go head to head in PvP matchups against a series of top-ranked representatives from other Systems that could be based on anything under the sun, that's new.
Unfortunately, the dialogue is so wooden it's almost a parody, albeit an unintentional one. Once WorldSmith has some more practice with writing character interaction, I hope for and look forward to seeing a rewrite of the first 40 or 50 chapters.
