- skilly7717Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Grammar (5/5): No one is perfect when it comes to grammar. There are a few errors, but it isn’t enough to bump the rating down. Overall, its consistent with little complaints.
Style (4.5/5): The spacing is good. There are little to no chunky paragraphs, making it easy to read. There is a lack of dialogue, though it isn’t an issue. Just something that’s worth mentioning.
Story (5/5): Though it’s only the beginning, the story has a lot of potential. The author keeps flow moving and doesn’t really drag anything out. The world building is well made, and the descriptions are pretty good. So far, it’s a simple story that’s easy to read with a lot of promise.
Characters (4.5/5): Kade is our MC, and he’s developed pretty well considering it’s only the beginning. He isn't overpowered and not stupid, which is refreshing to see considering how many stupid, overpowered mcs there are. There are a few other characters that are introduced, and each are different in their own ways. So far, we don’t know too much about the other characters, and some lack development, but it’s still too early to judge.
Overall (5/5): Overall, it’s a good, easy read with an interesting premise and a lot of potential. - Mandrake92Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was first drawn in by the fun and colourful cover which the author drew themselves. I love the personal touch.
The story thrusts you straight into the action with what you think is a classical ideali story but quickly subverts your expectations and leads the reader on a wild ride.
the characters are well written and the dialogue and action is entertaining and keeps you on your toes, I am looking forward to new chapters and discoveries. - Samantha NelsonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Like so many other novels, this one's lacking poetry.
As a cultivator of the singing song, I just had to see.
So, to all you others, cultivating in the night,
come and watch the journey; see this protag fight.
Kade's powers are intriguing, consuming anomolies;
With the power, he grows, smashing down bullies.
Like a flowing river, he pushes down his path,
sweeping and growing, wielding a mighty staff.
The style is familiar. It's written in third.
Spacing ain't an issue as it cultivates its words.
So, I give it top marks, despite the lack of poems.
Though they'd make it better and really bring it home.
The grammar is done with a single minor flaw.
Cultivators killed the comma from the things I saw.
Still, that's a problem all across the site.
So, no need to worry. It'll be alright.
The characters are all new ones. I don't know them well.
I'm hoping for introspection; I'm sure there's more to tell.
So far he's accepted and handled all plights.
I'm hoping for a moment to see his inner light.
The story has much promise; though it's only begun.
Looking at the options, it seems a lot of fun.
Still, I have the feeling, he'll rise above the rest.
My suspicion is that shortly, he will be the best.
So, to all the cultivators, give this one a read.
Sticking to familiar tropes, you can trust it like your steed. - BlareRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is the same run-of-the-mill cultivation with our protagonist, Kade, becoming super strong with the system given to him. The special part is that how the story is crafted. I won't say too much about it, but Kade is quite well-developed with an interesting background. Now, let's get to the review.
The style chosen is not bad, but I won't protest. The author's chosen POV is good enough and I like it. Action scene still flowed rather well, which I found to be hard to find, and not clunky whatsoever.
Grammar is good. No complain there.
Story has a lot of potential and nothing really dragged out. However, I must admit that the introduction is too abrupt in the grand scheme of thing without having too much background on Kade, but instead, having background about the previous life. However, the rest of it is not that bad.
Character is not bad, which is Kade, which is the ordinary mc. However, it's quite fresh, considering he isn't overpowered, even if he is destined to, I don't think he will do any stupid thing. So far, We don't know much, but we are prepped for some kind of greatness at the end. - cosimod7Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0read up to chapter 4 and seriously enjoying this story’s fresh take on cultivation and systems! The main character is not the typical overpowered idiot and seems like an interesting person so far. Keen to see how this develops.
highly recommend to fans of the xianxia genre and anyone looking for something beyond the usual fare of cultivation stories. - fr0stRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A's clumsy characters have already lost their train of thought, a family heirloom, some blood and the respect of their peers - here's hoping Kade's luck is starting to turn.
These first few chapters were well paced and easy to read. I'm curious to see if the author will continue to subvert and parody the isekai genre over the course of this world building phase of the story. - WilliamGabriel10Royal Road★★★★ 4.0This story has a rather unique hook utilizing the decoy protagonist trope. I won't spoil it. But they use a rather cliched opening, which is then used to create a rather clever, if dark, subversion of things.
However, I feel as if a lot of elements in the story could be better handled.
Style is functional and keeps the flow going, though some action sequences drag a little. Action sequences ought to be short and to the point. A little too much focus is put on describing them at the expense of flow. 4/4
Grammar is good. I have a few complaints there, though I am no expert. I don't mind bad grammar, so it defaults to 5/5.
The story and worldbuilding are probably the strongest part of the plot. The world building is pretty darn good. The plot moves along at a decent pace. I appreciate the fact that the author figured out how this world operated beforehand. 4/5
However, I feel that the characters lack a certain charm, making it flow less well. Kade, the main protagonist, is fairly well-developed. He is clearly intended to be after the mold of a wise warrior monk type. However, his character sometimes comes across as petty and vindictive in a way he is not supposed to. But many characters feel like they could have been better fleshed out. 5/5
