I liked the start of this one. While the main character wasn't very likeable at the start, he stuck out from the standard protagonist in using mainly alchemy, thinking and swift feet to survive. Side character also had their own personalities and goals. Everything was trodding along fine.
Then the annoying part became clear. The alchemy was in practice the creation of omnigadgets. The main character could do anything. Whatever the plot needed, he could create potion with that effect. No problem that couldn't be solved. The plot twist in the middle made this even worse by magnitudes of magnitudes. That's where I lost interest and skimmed through the rest.
So. Nice writing skills with no real faults, i just didn't like the way the story went. Perhaps others will.
