CONTENT WARNING: Japanese ultranationalism, language, gore depictions, obscene scenery

Off to the Orient lay a massive ocean that separated the bellies of the great continents of Eurasia and the Americas. In between the global juggernauts that were the United States of America and the People's Republic of China was a state home to 120 million people and the world's third largest economy.

But things often don't go as hoped.

The nation of Japan suddenly wakes up to the heavens above them having been rewritten in what seemed like divine premonition. A familiar, yet otherwise alien world awaited them beyond the shores that had kept them safe. As the vices of globalization threatened to wreck havoc and condemn the Japanese state into obscurity, it was up to newly elected Prime Minister Takamori Hideaki and his administration to face this challenge of epic proportions.

Paying homage to みのろう's Summoning Japan (Nihonkoku Shoukan, NHS) as a fan-made work, this story will also follow Japan, but explores a completely different world. Now helmed by a named Prime Minister, Japan will wade the murky waters of the new world as it struggles to come to terms with its issues.

Came here for the haha unfair civilisation match go brrr, stayed for the genuinely amazing writing style and detail. Very, very compelling! It's events are obviously grimmer compared to stuff like Summoning America, but if you enjoyed that fanfic then you'll definitely enjoy this too. Shame I put off reading it so much! Ah well, mistake remedied!

Gets my seal of approval after I binged this serious a bit too much and was forced to skip college courses lest I drive without having slept a wink.
While this is a fanfic, this series works great enough as a standalone work and doesn't require any knowledge from the main work. At least not that I'd know as I haven't read the work this fanfic is based on. There might be a few odd references to other fanfics or the original work, but it's something that can be glossed over at least.
Maybe a point of contention might be the intensive use of German, though it's probably not all too necessary as all German used is pretty much just swear words or slurs that you are bound to stumble upon somewhere in life, I'd guess. Not that I'd know since I'm German myself so this issue is bypassed for me.
Also, while this series is marked as being on hiatus it doesn't seem completely dead in the water and if you read up to Chapter 39.5 you won't be disappointed by cliffhangers as it's a natural stopping point.

Looks like a more....not really sure which word to use for this. Detailed? In-depth? Maybe consequential would suffice.
I especially enjoy the fact that Western superpowers also get to play ball in this one. Might help digest the whole 'emmisary' thing with Japan for me. That part didn't really sit right with me—just felt like shameless propaganda.
Considering that both USA and UK each have a fucking carrier strike group in the world also makes me excited.

Just two chapters in and I can already see this story's biggest weakness. I'll update this review as I go.
First, let's get the good out of the way.
Grammar (5): Near perfect. Not much else to say.
Character (4): So far, so good. It's still pretty early and there's a lot of characters being introduced, but I appreciate the depth displayed so far. Technically, I should put this at my 'neutral' which is 2.5, but I'm getting good vibes early on.
Story (4): Same as the characters - too early to tell if it's truy good or not, but I'm getting a good feeling so far. It's mostly following the original story, but with some major additions like the US Carrier. Interested to see where that goes.
Style (3): Alright, let's get into what I think is the biggest flaw of this fic, which even this early on I can tell will be a major and consistent problem going forward.
    Too much telling.
Show Don't Tell is a very old but still very relevant storytelling advice - and it will continue to be in the future.
Just from the intro of the first chapter, there's already a lot we're told about the Prime Minister, but not shown. His introduction was almost entirely exposition, which I hope will not be th standard with major characters going forward.
Also, I don't like big, chunky paragraphs. That's just my personal preference, but I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one who feels the same.
Anyways, so far so good. I'll update this review as I go.
    Update as of Ch.12:
    Style (2):
Yeah, I was right, over-description is actually getting worse. The paragraphs are so long that my eyes just glaze over as soon as I see them.
Even worse, it happens it action scenes.
    Action scenes.
You know, thos scenes where you want the story to be fast, impactful, and snappy? Well, ha, jokes on you! Because here's three paragraphs combined into one where they describe every minutia of their plan, strategy, and execution.
I'm sure there's some military nuts who can appreciate this level of detail, but I dare say you can
