Description
Planet Earth's greatest - but unrecognised - artist, Marcus Korol, is mind swapped into a crashing spacecraft. Ejected to the surface of Grimworld, a planet with a base-building system, Marcus has to master the system in order to survive and prosper. Even if he can cope with the monsters and environmental dangers, there are warlike tribes to consider, twenty of them, in a complex arrangement of alliances. Staying alive, let alone prospering, is a daunting challenge that even a battle-hardened general would find daunting. Yet Marcus treats the situation with relish.
Marcus's one companion is another person summoned from Earth, a former princess, Duchess Sina Koskina. Sina is a young woman who has never done a serious day's work in her life. Having previously had servants for every task, Sina has no idea of her real abilities or talents, but she is keen to find out.
Marcus and Sina must find a way to work together, build a settlement, and master the strange system of the planet. If they can do so, they might even find and solve theUltimaquest that Grimworld is reputed to be host to.

- AcrinoeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Summoned! To GrimWorld by Oisin Muldowney
Oisin offers a solid reading experience with its straightforward and approachable writing style. Oisin's writing is easy to engage with, making for a quick and enjoyable read, particularly reminiscent of the pacing often found in Young Adult fiction. With an impressive 88 chapters already available, there's certainly plenty of content to look forward to in this ongoing web novel.
The story presents an interesting premise as it follows the classic Isekai trope, where two protagonists find themselves transported to a new world governed by a unique system. GrimWorld offers a blend of survival and building quests, with the potential for combat lurking in the background but not taking a central role. The gradual character and story development is a notable aspect, with hints of a larger overarching quest that promise intriguing future developments.
The author maintains a high level of proficiency in language, resulting in a seamless reading experience. Any minor errors that may arise are swiftly corrected, allowing readers to immerse themselves fully in the story without language distractions. Oisin's straightforward writing style ensures readers can focus on the story's entertainment value.
Characterization is another noteworthy element of the novel. The two main protagonists, Marcus the artist and Sina the princess, possess distinct and flawed personalities that add depth to the narrative. Their dialogues contribute to the storytelling flow, offering insight into their evolving relationship and individual growth. Their unpreparedness for the challenges of GrimWorld creates an intriguing dynamic that keeps readers engaged in their journey.
In summary, Summoned! To GrimWorld is a commendable addition to the web novel landscape, offering a pleasant and straightforward reading experience. It provides an enjoyable narrative with well-executed grammar and compelling character dynamics. For those seeking a light and entertaining read, - Apollo149Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Story: The story is well-crafted, with plenty of action, intrigue, and danger. Summoned! To GrimWorld (LitRPG, Base Building, 4x, RimWorld) a very tightly-woven narrative with clear intentions and a sense of progress. I am eager to learn more about the world the author is creating. This story is an interesting take on a whole bunch of different ideas and systems. It feels both like a video game and real life at the same time. Situations are deliberately game like and others are not.
Side note: I love, love the mind exchange part. That got me hooked.
Style: Easy follow. The style for the most part has a good amount of description and compliments the pacing of the story very well. The strength of the story is the gradual reveal of the intricacies of worldbuilding that at first sight may be underestimated. The writing style is incredibly engaging and easy to read. There are lots of vivid descriptions and moments that bring the world to life. The dialogue between characters is natural.
Grammar: Like the style, it does the job and there are no glaring issues. The author also seems responsive to feedback, which is always great to see.
Overall, Summoned! To GrimWorld is a good start. I cannot wait to see how the author takes the story further. The story is well-written, the characters are well-developed, and the world is fascinating. The best part of the story is the Dialogue. The dialogue is masterful. Most writers fall flat on their face in an attempt to make dialogue feel like natural conversation, the author does a perfect job making every sentence feel real. The style is good as well. It contains a lot of descriptions. I enjoyed the pacing. The setting seems large and I would love to see it explored further as the MC travels through it. - Daniel CowanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Loving every moment of this. I enjoy the diverse character personalities, their different backgrounds, and their interactions. Marcus, in particular, is my favourite. In a game of civilisation, I usually go for a cultural victory, and seeing him doing the same, instead of having our MC murderhobo his way through life, makes me happy.
- Miranda HeraldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was an interesting story where the main character is sent to a foreign world. There is some incredibly imaginative world building as the vegetation and fauna are discovered and explored. The are described with detailed descriptions that allow me to see them in my minds eye, but there are also wonderfully illustrated encyclopedia pages at the end of the chapters to lend a hand to my own imagination. The main character learns new skills and levels up and I can't wait to see where this story goes!
- Uncharted BloodlinesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Summoned! To GrimWorld is a fun, base building adventure with a nice touch of humor and heartfelt moments. It didn’t take me long to become invested in Marcus and Sina’s journey together.
Style:
The storytelling is smooth, and complimented the survival storytelling elements. I felt fully immersed as Marcus and Sina explored their surrounding and encountered new creatures. The Encyclopedia Grimwaldia updates were a neat touch, like bonus content with cool images too.
Grammar:
No noticeable grammar issues. Clean, clear sentences in the chapters I’ve read so far.
Story:
Crashing spaceships, quests, and a ticking clock—it had all the elements to keep me hooked. I love the mix of suspense, exploration and the organic reveal of the system in a meaningful way that made sense to me.
Character:
Marcus and Sina are the heart of this adventure. Marcus finding joy in his new skills? Relatable. Sina embracing her accomplishments with excitement? Given her privileged origins, I loved how that played out. It felt like I was with them on their journey, not just watching from the sidelines.
Overall, it’s a solid 5 stars. The characters are so relatable. Their struggles come across as real and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. - baelrathRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is an interesting take on a whole bunch of different ideas and systems. It feels both like a video game and real life at the same time. Situations are deliberately gamelike and others not.
Ideas remind me of games like Civilization. Spore. Minecraft. Valheim. Don't Starve. Survival plus Civ building.
Characters grow on you. Weak to start but then they mature into their roles.
Minor Slave arc that thankfully doesn't last too long, minor spoiler as it basically mentions it in Chapter titles.
System elements are mostly focused around base building. No other as of yet LitRPG elements. Stats are mentioned but we have seen no change in them as yet. - T B CarterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a five star novel, a sci fi LITRPG with original concents, and to cap it all, it's addictively readable.
Don't expect big numbers and overpowered characters from this novel, the characters are more realistic, I mean how often do you have a crotchetty 92 year old artist as a main character?
This is more slice of life than constant life or death combat although plot flows nicely and the characters have to deal with more their fair share of peril. The author obviously knows his art and there are useful pictures and maps throughout the novel which is a nice touch.
I have only two minor issues with this novel, neither of which interfere with my five star rating, the first is the terrible title and the second is the fact the characters don't boil river water before drinking it. Oh well, parasites have to live too. - TonyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the subtle subversion of expectations. It is pretty consistent throughout, and not on the nose. The characters are not caricatures (but easily could've been). The game mechanics are incorporated very well. The RPG and 4x mechanics go well together. Unlike Summoned! this is a fresh start, where you are making basic tools and temporary structures by hand instead of kingdom management. As soon as I started reading I was immediately drawn into the story, and stayed up way too late to read more. Very interesting story, and the prose sucks you in. It starts off good and gets better and better. And no long set-up either, which is a big plus for me (same with the author’s other work I’ve read, Summoned! to an RPG World).
(Very, very early spoilers follow) You get told the character is a genius, you know the story is 4x, so I'm thinking he's an engineer or mathematician. He's a genius sculptor. The other character is a princess and an Instagram type influencer. Perfect setup as a caricature to dump on. She is actually more intelligent than the sculptor. Both are decent people with some flaws, and more realistic and believable than the standard tropes for artists and pampered upper-crust types. - MorrowjustinRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Just bing read. It is a good story that has great pacing. Looking forward to reading more. Two solid characters that are acting accordingly to their circumstances. It is moving along nicely and keeps interest into what is going to happen next. The system is good. The base building is moving along.
- RedisaNuberRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story was great overall, but its main downside was that it felt like there was so much more to explore.
From the characters and their fates (like Rosemary), to the lifestyles of the different tribes and the technological progression of the Finns tribe—there were many intriguing elements that were touched on but never fully developed. Certain tribes become hostile at times, yet there are no real consequences or follow-up. Similarly, the monster ecosystem is barely explored; readers are only introduced to a handful of creatures, leaving a major part of the world feeling underdeveloped. Some antagonist tribes were built up to be future threats but they never were because the story ended before they could.
At one point, a major player is taken down, but this shift has no lasting impact. The dynamics remain unchanged, and aside from one person, we learn nothing about what happened to the others involved.
One subplot (Spoiler – the underwater “last of its kind”) also felt out of place. To me, it seemed to exist solely for the sake of lore or to hint at another potential plotline, but nothing ever came from it. It could have been removed entirely without affecting the story.
The main characters such as the main figures in each tribe could have used more depth. Readers are given very little insight into the antagonist beyond his immediate goals.
Toward the end, the characters seemed to rush into completing their mission. It would have made more sense for them to consolidate their position and prepare more thoroughly, rather than push forward so abruptly.
Though I will admit that there was one plot line that was cut abruptly in a good way.
Spoiler - I really like how Lindsey was taken down. Although it was possible and could have been interesting to see her grow as a bigger threat, and see her own path to power, her demise felt like a nice reflection of how quickly things can change in real life, and that plot armor doesn't exist in real life. Can't put it into words all
