- CplumbRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm enjoying Sean's adventures in the new world. A tad surprised that such an incompetent man (as the previous king) has such loyal followers. Divine intervention, maybe?
I do wonder about his family. Parents? Siblings? Cousins? Who would be his heir? Who is now?
The lack of food seems to dominate. Can he go to half-rations?
What happens to the food he was wasting? And when does the Cook get revenge? (Maybe the staff is not pleased they are getting his left-overs?
Reading to Find out! :D - JasonFantasticoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Unusually for an Isekai novel, this one has the protagonist reincarnated as a really fat guy who can barely get around. It takes a few chapters to get going but once it does it's very compelling and full of memorable scenes.
My one complaint would be that at times the hero is so busy buddying up to his allies from other kingdoms that his "team" or whatever you want to call it is almost ignored. I wish we got a little more of them. - LordSheaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Twelve chapters into a fun new story. Excellent book with excellent character development and storyline.
MC is a character that gets pulled into another world (Video Game World) by his advisors to replace a king that was doing a crappy job. Unfortunately, the MC gets stuck with the Kings fat, sloppy out of weight body, when the kingdom needs a warrior to protect it.
I don't understand the other reviews. He is pulled into a videogame like world. This is how videogames and city building work. Go play AoE or other RTS. Use your imagination and enjoy the book. - MayorsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I will try to keep it short.
Long time lurker and reader of a trillion Kingdom building novels.
This story is eloquently written, lacks any error in gram/style/didactic.
The plot itself is about a secluded(nearly) kingdom (Lorist Norton Kingdom like) in a field of 20 and possible more out of the sea enemies and foes. MC is not OP but handles his building/managmenr nicely. I love the lit rpg elements even if they lack some logic here and there.
The overall tension doesnt go away with events and dangers appearing here and there. Those are nice to read and make the story appeal to the reader by not making it too easy for our isekai MC. The mention of his video game multiple times in the beginning is somewhat weird in my opinion and i disliked it. The novel first felt like a live-ad.
Op has a frequent update schedule.
Only some minor negative dislikes about some litrpg elements surface when i think about contras. OP can and is changing any valid critism,so another Plus Point.
This seems to be OPs first Novel and i support this story. I hope all the best for the author, since it brings joy to me to read such a good novel.
Worth it. In comparison to some other novels, this one truely has quality in it and i look forward to read more. If OP needs a map maker, contact me. - QuantittyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Finally, a story where the main character loses occasionally or doesn't have things go perfectly. This hero progression/world-builder is excellent, and the first half has many ups and downs. Unfortunately, he didn't have many problems in the second half, but it was well paved in the first half. Great ending, excellently written
- RaujourRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very enjoyable world, good characters, scenes were well described, but some antagonist choices were iffy.
I spent a good portion of the story wondering 'why not a tie'? Glad you addressed it. I wish the circumstances had been detailed better and with more enemy development but it was addressed.
I'm glad there wasn't an obvious betrayal. We're conditioned to expect them. I didn't want 'another loss'. I'm not rosy-eyed for the future but since it is beyond the story, no worries.
I think to much effort was put on the "grid world" description. Wasn't necessary after the game-determination. Overall, an enjoyable read and well done. - RykurockRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Kingdom-Building has always been one of my more favorite genre's. This combined with a litRPG framework paves the way for an incredibly compelling story. The Author has no shortcomings when it comes to writing, and within the framework of only a few chapters has crafted a story that pulls the reader into his developing world. I am beyond excited to see how the story progresses! Keep up the great work Oisin!
- SyraleiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The stroy captures you. It is a little slow in the first few pages but then as if transported to that realm the story takes life and you begin the journey with fervour and delight. I look forward to reading more. The knowledge of the gameplay is well versed and the level ups are good. Knowing the menus and keeping track makes you feel that it is your own castle you are upkeeping.
Well done! - TonyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I read it a while ago on KU and don't remember the specifics beyond it was great, had kingdom management along with RPG elements, and I blew through it quickly. What I look for most in anything I read is the inability to put it down, and this was that type of book.
- simonatackRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have greatly enjoyed the story and now disappointed that it has ended. I must say it seemed to come to a rapid conclusion in a half dozen chapters when I had been thinking there was quite a bit more that would have to the 25 kingdoms. So this was a bit of a disappointment but it wasn't that it didn't fit the story just that it took a swerve from where I thought it was going.
I also felt it left a good possibilities for the future of the 25 kingdoms, as a sequel that I think would be by its nature a different book, but could be a very interesting read of world building.
I felt the characters were well fleshed out and consistent, even minor characters seemed to have some story. The epilogue was a nice touch about what happened to king Carlos, a bit ambiguous as it could interpret a couple of outcomes but nice none the less
I can't say I'm a student of language but I didn't have any issues with the grammar or writing, I didn't have to pause to think and work out what was being conveyed.
I also found the style of story worked well for the telling. Giving enough updates of character sheets to let you understand but not getting in the way of the story
