AFTERWORD
Hey everyone — thank you, thank you, thank you for sticking with me all the way to the end of this novel. I hope it gave you some joy, some chills, maybe even a few moments you’ll carry with you outside the page. Whether you loved it or not, I’d really love to hear your thoughts. Comments and feedback mean the world to me.
A little personal story: years ago, I was in Thailand, on Kho Lanta. I spent a day on the river with a local family — fishermen who let me feed their fish, kids diving from a platform, life flowing all around me. It struck me so deeply that I started seeing the world differently. Not the mind locked inside us, but the mind as part of the world itself. That’s where the idea of the Light was born.
At the end of the day, this book is just a story — but for me it was also an experiment. I wanted to find a new way of writing about connection, about the mind not as something locked inside us, but as part of the world itself. If it gave you even a glimpse of that, I’m glad. And if it simply gave you a good ride, I’m just as glad — because that’s what stories are meant to do.
See you soon for the next adventure!

- Free Fantasy LibraryRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall, Steal the Light is a promising story with a robust magic system employed by diverse characters. With several well-chosen POVs, Steal the Light has the potential to build a multi-threaded narrative that explores various power progressions as well as add nuance to the philosophical questions it explores.
Style: This story is well-written. The language is sharp and vivid. The prologue, especially, contains visceral imagery. The author weaves character thoughts and emotions through the narrative naturally and seamlessly. In a similar vein, worldbuilding elements such as Skills float through the scenes like leaves in a stream. The worldbuilding is not forced or clunky. The writing is clean and contains few grammatical issues.
Character: The multiple POVs offer insight into this cast of interesting characters. The diversity of magical abilities, backgrounds, and positions in the world are reminiscent of the initial chapters of The Way of Kings. Certain character motivations are well-defined, such as both Queens being drawn to Michael-promising a strong long-term arc to explore. As these characters gain power, this narrative approach has the potential for huge benefits.
Story: The story contains some outstanding details. The worldbuilding feels unique with a fascinating magic system and clever power dynamics. The fact that there are two known queens adds huge tension to their progression arcs and promises a great conflict.
This is a story for those who enjoy multiple POVs, excellent magic systems, philosophical depth, and romance. Choose your Queen, and read with deLight. - LindapindaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the two female characters, I'm intrigued by the story. The concept of the Light seems deep and philosophical, so the story promises a lot, but it still feels like an easy read. Thumbs up for the author, it's not easy to achieve this result. I'm looking forward to understand more about the power of the illuminated, and also what role will Michael play in the story. It looks like there's going to be some romance elements too. All in all, it feels like a compelling work.
- Nemo BlancRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reading this story felt like falling into a hidden river, a current that tugs at you from the very first scene. The story revolves around Malee, a girl unwillingly shaped into a Queen of Light, and unfolds across a strange, fragmented world where psychic connections and luminous battles define every beat. The opening scene, a surgery gone wrong, is both vivid and brutal, making it impossible to forget Malee’s terror and vulnerability. The plot quickly escalates into an expansive spiritual and psychological realm where the boundaries of reality dissolve and threads of Light link characters across space and time.
What really drew me in was how the text captures its characters’ internal struggles. Malee doesn’t just resist the Surgeon’s cruelty; she grapples with what it means to bear a responsibility too huge for one person. Meanwhile, Michael, Jonata, and Erica form a trio that feels distinct and compelling, a delicate balance between aggression, vulnerability, and resilience. Their moments of banter and tension crackle with life, making every shift in allegiance or betrayal sting.
The prose shines when it embraces its own strangeness, long, flowing sentences carry readers between moments of intimacy and cosmic conflict. The writer has a gift for making the abstract concrete, especially when describing the Light, its vibrations, and its psychic threads. The text doesn’t shy away from bold ideas and doesn’t overexplain, allowing readers to sink into its world and piece together its revelations.
Grammar and style are strong overall, although a few moments felt almost too dense, making certain transitions harder to track. Sometimes, a slight tightening or a signal break could help. The long paragraphs mimic the overwhelming nature of the realm being described, but a touch more breathing room here and there would make it even more captivating.
In the end, this is an ambitious piece, a luminous, thought‑driven foray into a realm where identity, belonging, and the nature o - NikolainRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Steal the Light: An ambitious and emotional charged fantasy that blends character arcs, political intrigue, and metaphysical warfare all together. Throughout multiple chapters, we get an overview of multiple characters like Malee, Michael, Erica, and much more, as they awaken and grapple with the weight of the light.
I find the author is great at weaving the mystical with the personal, especially in scenes involving the Realm of Light. The pacing and dialogue feels grounded, characters are enriched, and what's in stake feels both personal and cosmic.
I will give a bit of a list of the Pros and Cons that I encountered, and this is subject to change overtime and may differ from other people's perspective.
Pros:
- Dynamic character depth: Nothing feels flat.
- Unique magic system: The light feels conceptual, and beautiful in how it functions.
- Pacing of revelations: Information unfolds at a proper pace, so it doesn't leave you hanging you feeling as if it's dragging.
Cons:
- Maybe a bit of an overwhelmcing cast: Too many characters may cause readers to backtrack, at least in my case, to recall moments.
- Info-dump: Some scenes, like the ones with Maria, lean a lot into exposition.
- Tone shifts: Drama and sarcasm can feel jarring, especially in mid-scenes from what I gathered.
Again, these are my own thoughts, but while I work on my own work, I was glad to have continued on reading and wish the best for the author.
Kind regards,
Nikolain
