During an interstellar space voyage, everybody else has left the ship long ago, Rex is prematurely resurrected from stasis due to an unexpected emergency. By happenstance he becomes the captain of a magic space-faring sailing ship complete with crew, then acquires a diverse cast of followers. Crazy adventures follow, emphasis on "crazy".
The story is told in third-person style by an omniscient narrator, usually from Rex' point of view. There are some descriptions setting the scenes, but most is rather scarce. The pacing is very fast, too fast in my opinion, one scene jumping right into the next without any transition or any opportunity (for Rex or the readers) to process it. Even within the same event, the narrative focus is hopping around like a squirrel on meth. Grammar is rather clunky with a number of errors.

It seems that the cause for Rex' behavior is that he had been within a game-like simulation for years (decades/centuries?) and he hasn't really realized that he is back in the serious real world again. Even worse is his tendency to do a running commentary of ed
