Star Wars Episode 7: A Corpse Through Which the Force Speaks

Description
The fall of the Empire heralds dark times for humanity. As the New Republic concedes much of the galaxy to alien rule, a group of special forces stormtroopers must find a way to survive the "new normal".
This fanfiction sets an alternate course of events in response to general dissatisfaction with the sequel trilogy. In terms of continuity, this story only takes into account the events of the first six movies and Rogue One.
Please note: This story comes from the school of thought that the purpose of art is to provoke thought, rather than distract us from reality. I hope that the disturbing parts of this story do just that.

- NikkitaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am impressed. The storytelling and writing was awesome.
My favourite thing about this story is that it is very controversial. Especially today. The way you tackled various political ideas through this story was interesting to read.
I also liked that the chcaracters were not necessarily good or evil but more on the scale of various shades of gray. And the way they had to deal with their morality.
Now onto the details. First the choice of calling the New Republic military Checka was a brilliant forshadowing on how you intend to show them throughout the story. And another thing that made me smile was when you literary named the imperial emperor pupet. That was a nice one.
The end of the story reminded me strongly of Warhammer. Was it intentional? I got a feeling of Luke becoming the “God Emperor of Mankind”.
Overall it was an awesome and relaxing reading. Well done. - CestarianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Oh man I am impressed, this story has everything, good pacing, good characters, good grammar, good style (sure there are some pov breaks but it's not annoying like in a lot of other stories)... It even has an actual proper adventure!
I read this on a whim, something about an alternative to EP 7 just resonated with me, cuz I knew, whatever this author was gonna write, it couldn't possibly be worse than ep 7 :'D
But he sure showed me, this isn't just better than ep 7, this is actually good stuff!
But it's not just your regular royalroad, casual read, it's a bit of a heavier one.
For one thing, the entire story seems heavily influenced by real world politics but without pushing any particular agenda. It feels kind of like a thought experiment, what if the rebellion/new republic was a mirror of the modern day western political left and if the empire was a mirror of the political right.
There are no good guys here, the empire is still space nazis, but the new republic is now an sjw/communist cancer that is (in my opinion at least) even worse than aforementioned space nazis.
And idk I kinda feel like this story gets the message across quite well how I feel about modern day politics (spoiler cuz off topic)
If I'm forced to vote anything, I'll vote right because I see it as the slightly lesser of two evils, but I don't bother voting because I know I'm fucked no matter who I vote for or support. There are no good political parties, there is no good propaganda/censorship, it's all just bullshit, and at the end of the day we're gonna get what we deserve for bending over like good little slaves and letting whatever political agenda is on the menu today do dirty dirty things to us from behind.
Which to me is a good coincidence, albeit a bit heavy (since I happen to be a jaded asshole with a pretty dark view of the world). But I imagine there's a lot of people who don't share my views, maybe they just haven't gone down the rabbit hole of thinking about all this stuff seriously ye - FooBarTrixieBellRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writing style is good, very descriptive and really good characterisation. There are no major errors, spelling or otherwise, which I felt compelled to point out.
Reads just a little bit xenophibic, appears to have undertones of supremecy and a dislike of current geopolitical manouverings. It does feel like it is a simile for left wing politics taken to extremes.
You can feel the 'appologising for being born a straight white male' and 'toxic masculinity' bulshit with the resentment of that which is going on today being played out in a star wars universe and how no one is right and no one is winning.
Certainly thought provoking and probably polerising.
Sort of a shame it is fanfiction, I'm hoping the author has some original works I can read.
Update: the later chapters got really good, the xenophobia came across from the other side and balanced everything, the ending made sense and the balance of power is starting to right itself.
A very worthwhile read. - VirhaikRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Writing is good, some story aspects bug me and some of it feels like convenience for plot but my disbelief isnt stretched thin enough to snap.
It feels wierd reading from the side of space nazis, the writer is really able to push how the characters think and make them both likable and disgusting.
So far it feels very black and white which i admit is a theme in the star wars movies, but this has the potential to show more grey, as the characters arent bastions of evil or good but simply soldiers in a world after their fall. - IDontKnowItRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Writing wise it’s an excellent story. However I feel that it is too far in the opposite direction compared to what it seeks to do. The premise is that after the rebellion wins, the galaxy becomes extremely xenophobic in backlash towards the humans due to counter racism after the fall of the empire. Somehow leia has become completely human hating and xenophobic going as far as to seek to erase humanity as a whole. No references to Han so far and she seems to be completely crazy. Where the sequels have done a character assassination on Luke, this novel does the same on leia to the point that I can only see her as a puppet to a sinister mind manipulating being. The novel is good but I just can’t see it being a faithful Star Wars story with the characters and their personalities.
- KaijkoRoyal Road★★ 2.0The writing is of good quality, the Story okay.
However, i couldn't stomach the rather overt political commentary. A fascist Empire murdering and enslaving untold billions... played straight as "so sad that its gone" and the republic as "evil, woke identity politics monsters who only want to oppress the white, sorry, human majority because of white, sorry, human guilt" is a narrative that... is certainly not for me. - Anoneiric PhilosopherRoyal Road★ 0.5The prologue is interesting, showing the battle of Endor from the stormtroopers' view: terrifying.
Then the first chapter begins by taking the classic racist propaganda of "they want the minorities to rule over the majority, and destroy our way of life!" and plays it straight as if it were a reasonable view of the future of Star Wars, and as if it were a compelling critique of modern society. For some reason the New Republic declares that humans are second-class citizens compared to aliens, to "redress wrongs", and meanwhile the stormtroopers shed a manly patriotic tear about how "if only space fascism/racism had won!" and become the heroic rebels against this new form of leftist tyranny.
Put simply: it is somehow less believable than the canon sequel trilogy, and also flagrantly plays into common racist fantasy of the privileged majority somehow being the real victims, under attack by the disgusting and savage minorities. Because "equality" and "peace" are lies. There will always be one which rules, and one which serves. And don't you want to be the Ruler? Palpatine agrees.
