Description

“What a miserable planet!” is often the thought of Asani as he lives life on a world out in the outer realms of space. His days with the Federation came to a quick end when tragedy happened, and he was to blame. The circumstances around that horrific day were classified and instead of a large tribunal trial, he was made to leave Starfleet. Coverup was found to be far easier. With no one to turn to, he had no choice but to leave Earth and end up here on this “miserable planet”.

After years of hard work his skills in engineering look to had finally paid off. He is close to finishing the construction of his own starship. Not any ordinary starship. A ship made from parts of anything he could get his hands on and with a few modifications of his own.

His only help in building this ship are two Starfleet hologram programs that he purchased off the “black market”. Both are childlike, annoying and Starfleet proud, but they have now become the only family Asani has.

With the end nearly in sight of Asani having his freedom to fly about the Universe once again, more complications arise. Success looks doubtful but an unexpected event occurs. Starfleet needs him once again. But what they need him for is nothing that anyone would have expected. If he does what they ask, he will have his freedom once again but is it worth the cost. Asani is about to go where no one would ever want to go; descend into chaos

This book is a very fun read! The character building is exciting. Their comments about movies and sitcoms from the 90s is hilarious.  Get confused on the Star Trek themes but my family is always willing to help. I think I understand now what is a Warp Core.
Overall, an exciting read. Recommend to both Trekkie and not so Trekkie alike.

Well, I'm not gonna hide it: I know barely anything about Star Trek.
And yet, Igedis managed to pull me effortlessly in this fanfic of his!
While the presented univers is somewhat foreign (nothing that can't be solved in a wiki foray or two), the stakes are clearly undersantable.
The story of Asani is gripping, as his fate is often at risk.
All in all, this Sci-Fi depiction of a Black Op is quite entertaining, and I do recommend it.
