Description

Fantasy and SF meet in this unique portal novel. Five unique kingdoms are locked in a war quite unlike any other. But it is in the Kingdom of the Stone God that Aelia lives: a not-so-special girl who is desperate to be accepted by the Mage Academy.

But if she's nothing special, why are such strange things happening to her?

Like the distant voices she hears that are telling absurdities about reality.

Like the details she's starting to notice that no one else seems to.

Like how quickly she's able to learn and improve.

Could Aelia have been born for a greater purpose -- a purpose she's somehow forgotten?

Splintered Worlds combines portal fantasy with a unique fantasy setting.

I really like how alive the world feels! The city and the narrative are weaved together seamlessly, making it feel like Aelia is exploring a real place.
The characters all seem like they have their own goals and motivations and aren't just there for the protagonist.
I really like that the story is given time to unfold and we're not rushed into mindless action from the first page.
The style of the author is unique and interesting, and he's using words in ways that I've never seen before, which speaks volumes about his creativity.
It's refreshing to read a fantasy story that is this well-written!

I’m honestly surprised that Splintered Worlds isn’t more popular. The writing has style, the characters are quirky and interesting, and the story is building nicely with each chapter. The author shows maturity in his craft by leaving things for the reader to infer instead of getting bogged down in explaining everything.
If I have one criticism, it’s the frequency of typos. Though, I have noticed less after the early chapters. A proofreader would likely solve that as it is often impossible for an author to see his own typos (particularly missing words) when re-reading.
Hopefully the author will persevere and not become disheartened. This work is clearly good enough to merit more attention.

I ended up on this website by following nickofnight on Reddit NoSleep. He's got a great writing style and throughly enjoy his stories. I'm on Chapter 13 for Splintered Worlds so far and it's great. Good imagery, and the interlude chapter threw an unexpected curveball, in a good way. It's exciting to see the different avenues it can now go down.  I definitely recommend taking the time to check it out and to check him out on Reddit.   Cheers.

I already like the (seemingly) primary world of Aelia. Enough information is given to set the mood, time and place, but also spark interest in the many things yet unexplained. To be fair, I have read some of NickofNight's stories on Reddit, which makes me even more confident this story will turn out great!
Give it a try, Nickofnight has never disappointed me so far with similar stories.
