Spiral is a short story, one that follows the cycle of drug addiction and failure by the administration to help those it is responsible for.
It has several characters despite its short length, and though none of them have nearly the level of expression or development that I would want, they all have a clear effort made to make them unique, so that they stand apart from one another
The grammar is mostly without issue, the author clearly knowing how to properly spell and structure sentences without any blaring errors.
The story overall does feel a little rushed, and while that is to be expected with this size of work, I still cannot help but feel as though it could be much better told with a few more pages added. The different plot elements would be able to have a much greater effect, and the themes of the story might come across more effectively with more time devoted to each one.
The style suffers from that same issue, while not really lacking in anything in any massive way, it simply doesn’t have any real strengths either, which I feel is mostly due to that aforementioned shortness, flitting around from one perspective and character to another in the same page because of the rush for time, without fully fleshing out any of the scenes or actions taking place in the moment.
I do think this story has potential, but for that to be unlocked the author would need to be willing to give much more depth to each of the individual elements, to let them stand both on their own and as part of a whole.

This story is a bit of a disorientating mix of descriptions and events surrounding some drug users. It has a depressing feel throughout and is somewhat hard to connect to the different characters because of the situation and how it jumps around instead of establishing a singular focus. The way it speeds through the treatment itself is also part of why it is hard to connect to.
