Description

A collection of three books: The Tomb Removed from Time, Haunt of the Dying Melody, and Heartbeat Between Two Worlds

Just tough it out and finish senior year. That's all Ethan Harper is worried about as the calendar flips over to a new year. With good grades and no bullies at school, that's a task that can be accomplished easily enough by continuing to coast through. Ethan's issues come from his lack of friends, his fear of groups and being touched, and the immense guilt he harbors due to the circumstances surrounding his parents' deaths. With his sister putting her college education on hold to come back home and raise him, he feels like he's been holding her back.

The life he's come to understand as normal gets thrown out the window the same day he meets an odd new girl at his bus stop. On her first day, Vancouver is attacked by a group of superpowered terrorists, revealing to the world just what power and evil can accomplish. With dozens of civilians burned alive and a building swallowed by the earth that it sat on, Ethan can barely comprehend the powers and cruelty he witnesses. It only gets more confusing when the new girl tells him that he has a power just like those terrorists. Forging a new life for himself, Ethan learns that greatness and heroism can come from anyone, even a lonely boy who struggles getting hugged.

this story is exactly what ive been looking for and im having fun reading it
for me its the characters that are my favorite part. i think they make sense with both realistic traits and ones that make sense in a low fantasy story. theyre not stupid but theyre not perfect/overpowered
i like the writing its not flowery which im in the mood for but it could maybe use some more "flower" if that makes sense. i feel like its for a ya or na age group so that makes sense.
i was worried the story would be like urban fantasy with a hidden world thatd be impossible to hide but i think its done well here like id believe they could stay hidden if they really tried
but really its the characters i have fun with. theyre not falling in love at first glance theyre not fighting because there has to be dumb drama and i really like the sibling dynamic between ethan and shelly. its cool to see siblings who dont just bicker all the time and arent afraid to show they love each other. ethan not having a crush on lori the moment he meets her is great too i was tired of the first girl being the romance interest
promising first story that has superpowers with superpowers issues and balances those with the casts regular human issues and it keeps everything grounded in a good way. im glad i was able to find this story
