Description

Toby Kincaid isn't crazy. He's stopped smoking weed with his pot head of a coworker. He's trying to get more than four hours of sleep a day. He's doing everything right or at least as much as he can with his late bills and overdrawn credit cards.

So why is he still seeing the numbers?

Just as Toby's world starts falling out from under him. Stuck between accepting his insanity or even worse, calling his Dad for help. The world decides to literally fall out from under him.

Dropped into a world that can't be real and a city that should be impossible. Toby doesn't care about getting home, Earth sucked anyway. He just wants the guards to stop chasing him, the thieves guilds to stop trying to kill him, and for someone to please explain how he can get the ghost of a magic powered serial killer out of his head.

And what the heck is this whole system thing anyway? And why does it keep referring to Toby as a "Variant Human"?

This story ain’t perfect. But honestly? I’m really enjoying it.
The MC is a fuckin loser but as the story progresses he seems to make himself into something more, not out of a some sort of great reflection or change, but more out of defiance for, anything really. Honestly the whole defiance thing for getting his class makes sense the more he grows by fighting against what others think.
The characters are interesting, if not a little unrealistic at times. Sometimes it feels as if much of their identity is being smooshed in your face instead of being pieced together, however at other times it feels well done, as the characters slowly build into who they are to our MC.
Honestly, despite my complaining, I’ve really enjoyed the story. The world building is interesting, although I wish there was some time spent to just find out what’s different compared to earth. They don’t seem to have Hawaiian Pizza! Surely they’ve got pizza right?
Anyways… author? Keep up the good work. Love the story!

I highly recommend this story. Although we aren't that far into it so far, its well written. The world and premise is admittedly not the most creative ever, but I really like the execution, whether it be the perspective shifts between "the monster in the walls" and toby himself, or most of the character interactions. Honestly my only gripe would be the lack of a schedule for when chapters will be published, but even that is fine as long as it prevents the author from burning out, and finishing the story. Overall, a very intereating read. I would personally like to learn more about how his class actually works and about the war between people and elves since I like worldbuilding, but hopefully all of that will come with timw. Anyways, PLEASE MORE CHAPTERS OR A SCHEDULE (it can have long breaka in between chapters) SO I CAN GET EXCITED FOR THE DROPS 🙏🙏🙏

It's a good story. Goes a bit too fast though but it manages to stick to the story and flow really well so you almost don't notice it until after you're done reading. I would say the story has immense potential and a really decent start. Honestly kinda looking forward to him yeeting the psycho ghost tbh. Also some more details when the guy is explaining what the psycho ghost did would make me enjoy that chapter more but honestly overall... Really good job.

The grammar is wonderful no noticeable immersion breakers.
the Mc……is interesting, he’s all over the place which I get with this plot, but it still feels like he has no development in the new world and is still fumbling all over the place even when there’s nothing major going on.
the side character’s are good and enjoyable to follow along with, keep it up.
now….the plot……….is a sadists dream because there’s no calm period and it almost gets annoying, cause instead of the Mc using a once in a blue moon calm period wisely and getting used to his skills or upgrading he acts like a white-knight and gets into fights with muggers and more gangs, killing the calm period and then more stuff and more and more.
and it’s boils down to a loop of the Mc getting beaten black and blue somehow escaping even when that’s not a possibility and barely getting any upgrade cause the Mc doesn’t use his time wisely and then for some reason thinks he can be a white-knight AGAIN, that can save the world only to immediately get beaten AGAIN and he’s literally crying that it’s unfair EVERY, SINGLE, FIGHT like you would think he would DO SOMETHING about it but nope, so it’s barely enjoyable, there’s no upgrades and even when there is one the Mc still doesn’t use it wisely and then complains two seconds later, even when he’s been told what to do and still I guess it slips his mind.
-yes I know it’s negative, but I had to put it out there that this novel is just a “take out your hate on the Mc type novel” and it gets irritating after 20+ chapters and barely anything to change that and the Mc not taking advantage of those things to change his situation.
