Description
Alex was just trying to escape his dead-end job and overbearing family. Then the System arrived, bringing with it magic, Rifts, and the chance for ordinary people to become extraordinary. Unfortunately for Alex, his stats started out as unimpressive as his old life. But when he gains the unique trait {Primordial Will}, which only allows him to put his free points into one stat, everything changes—though not necessarily for the better.
This is a slow burn story with Alex learning a lot about magic, himself, and his friends. There are moments that just show normal life, and some that feel like there is no direction or plot at all. There are some very high-octane, adventure moments where the numbers go way up, and there are also some losses that aren't going to feel great. Losses happen and mistakes are made, but our MC will continue to grow stronger.
This series follows Alex as he begins to master the art ofMana Threadsand creates a revolutionary new magic system withSpell Circles. He starts to realize that magic isn’t just a tool—it’s a path to power that few can fully grasp. But with the world’s governments struggling to contain the rising number of superhuman threats, Alex will have to navigate more than just monsters and Rifts. In a world where “might makes right,” who really calls the shots?

- armedleosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first five chapters of this story dive into the MC’s routine life—he’s just there, feeling stuck and wanting something more, something that’ll bring color into his gray, mundane world. He dreams of change, of doing things that will finally break him out of the monotony. Then, as if the universe heard his plea, strange rifts start popping up. People around him mostly dismiss them as rumors, but the MC can’t ignore his curiosity. When he finally gets the chance to enter one, it’s a turning point, hurling him into a world filled with incredible and surreal experiences.
The story is a blend of LitRPG and realism, mixing the gaming elements with a grounded vibe that keeps you hooked. It’s all very well-written, clear, and easy to follow, making it a smooth read without sacrificing the author’s ability to paint vivid scenes. There might be spots where the dialogue could be polished a little to make it even more immersive, but that’s minor—nothing that would break your experience.
If you’re looking for a LitRPG with a realistic edge that feels like a real journey, this one’s definitely worth trying. It’s engaging, and those touches of realism make it feel all the more refreshing. - GpuzzledRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've just finished the first book and I have been absolutely hooked on this story. The fresh take on a system based world and the struggles of it being newly integrated were handled brilliantly. I've already recommended this story to a few friends and hope anyone who sees this reviews gives spell weaver the chance it deserves
- Marquess of UpplandRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like the approach Spell Weaver has to its plot progression. I’ve seen way too many stories jump immediately into the action, and it’s nice that this one takes its time to build up instead. It’s slow (for the most part) but without filler, and the time it takes to develop the logic, world, and characters is done to great effect.
If you’re coming into the story expecting a fast-paced zero-to-hero, this probably isn’t what you want. But if you want to see a (slightly) more toned-down fantasy with a greater focus on characters and exploring magic, you’re in for a treat. - TheUsualPaddyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I genuinely did nothing but read this novel for about a week straight, I woke up, read some, went to work, read some on my breaks, came home, read some and repeated the process. Now I'm caught up and I'm genuinely not sure what to do with myself.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, I'd suggest joining the discord if you live in the UK so you can see the art. I'd subscribe to the patreon too but I'm broke.
My only critique is there's a few typos in more recent chapters that I'm sure will get fixed and don't actually cause any issues - SchusfusterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Yes, this got the cry of angst when I realized I was caught up. Full marks.
Really solid Urban Fantasy portal / system story with a weak / lazy character who really has to grow into his passion and power...this is really about how he becomes the person who can be OP, rather than starting that way, so it's more of a journey, but it really pays off, I promise. - Alita the battle AngelRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is cool slow based with deep characters explaining while avoiding useless encounters and summarising boring moment as much as possible while still keeping a good slow paced progress with good enough and detailed world built while some things the author avoid explaining immediately to avoid spoiling the story but in the end it explains itself in the next few chaps
- NotTnecnivRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story is good and captivating, but is not meant for those who prefer quick power scaling, but for those who appreciate slow, but logical yet meaningful progression. This is a great work, with interesting side characters, even if mentioned scarcely. The power system makes good sense and has a very fluid feeling to it. It's realistic approach is more focused on the mental reality, less on the physical. Meaning it showcases more of the realistic reaction and action of a weak-willed protagonist, but doesn't really show how lack of awareness could lead to more devastating consequences, which is not necessarily needed in this story. In conclusion I would just remark that this is an interesting read and was, and will be worth my time to read 100%!!
- sgrich20Royal Road★★★★ 4.0I’ve read alot of this story before I realized it wasn’t what I was looking to read. There was a period early on in the series where the MC was in over his head, and he got stronger to overcome his situation. Fighting monsters, people, and generally being a badass for a few chapters after it. It never quite caught that same magic, I kept reading well after afterwards hoping that it would. What really soured me was the team dynamic. It’s just not as fun or interesting. It makes fights less dramatic and makes the MC take a backseat. Some aspects of litrpg are very hard to get right, that’s romance and team fighting. The characters of this series are well written and likable, but not when they are fighting with the mc. Teams need to start the story fighting together, because then there isn’t anything to suggest solo badassery is a possibility. Mc started the story as an ambush, trap master, I really thought author was saying something when introduced magic spiders. Great story, good written characters, just not my jam.
- THE_PANRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I like the first book for the most part besides moments I say it was good. But beyond that it gets really sluggish without many intriguing moments, be it characters directions or lack of studying magic so it ends up becoming kind of boring to me.
To be clear about the characters of the main four humans 3 of them don't feel like the characters are more than a two word description give a example
- large, goofy
- analytical, empathy
-snarky, assassin
Not trying to say there not more to them just that all I feel there is to them.
