Description

In the far corners of the multiverse, anarchy reigns supreme. Entire sectors are dominated by smugglers and raiders vying for control over an ancient energy source that grants supernatural abilities alongside levels and stats.

On a seemingly normal day, Eon, a hacker, comes in contact with these raiders. Negotiation is impossible. The only language they speak is power. A language that Eon will have to learn or die trying. Because after his first death, he will need something far more practical than an AI to survive the dangers of the Outer Rim.

A riveting read that's a bit heavier on the world building than the average tightening paced fiction on RR. And I'm loving ever word of it.
Style: Written in close third person, we follow the MC Eon, a freelance hacker with a severe case of early life memory loss. The pacing is pretty quick, but I felt that each chapter build on itself very well, while adding in layers of world building to shape the sights and sounds of our future off-world adventure.
Characters: We're introduced the characters one chapter at a time, giving them plenty of breathing room while simultaneously advancing the plot. I think the writer does a great job in telling who these people are, what motivates them, and how they're connected to one another in a nice fluid fashion without feeling encumbered with excess information.
Story: We learn early on that our MC is a bit on the cocky side, and that despite all of his smarts, he's not as clever about hiding his tracks as he thinks he is. After a family contact refuses to do business with him, he receives a panicked call from his orphanage's matron about a missing birthday girl named Bun. In full blown panic mode, Eon wracks his brain for all the enemies he's made in his double-crossing deals who may want more than a little pay back. It's not long after finding the elusive child that the real hole he's dug himself makes an appearance.
Overall, very well written, well put together, and some great world building. Kind of has a pathfinder’s vibe to it though and as a result I'm not sure just how much of this intriguing world this author can call his own. But don't let that stop you from diving deep into this adventure.
